So if you use mp3s you need a license and if you use vinyl you don't? Ridiculous. Surely the venues should have an entertainment license that covers both...

That's a load of shite... I know if you buy tunes off of xpressbeats.com they give you the licence to the track and you're able to print it out unlike say beatport or fiberline... Not really a factor for me since A. I don't live there and B. use a computer for DJ'ing.

        Schmucks.

Just another way to shut you down without proper licenses or permits.

are they really going to try to enforce this stupid law. Is what i'm thinking. Are they really going to spend taxpayers money to have a cop at every gig looking for permits to play songs. What if your producer friends give you songs? Do you have to have a written letter from them too?

Who knows? Maybe it'll just fizzle out.

one of those laws, like the lap dance ban in tampa.. when it 1st hits it is all over, after a few months no one will be talking about it.

there seem to be so many frivolous laws like there here in AMerica. So many that even police forget about them.

the biggest joke is that even with these new laws, and you buy a license, its still totally illegal to play off cdrs, it does'nt matter if the songs on it are d/led illegally or legally.

?We haven't come up with a licensing solution for CD-Rs,? Peter Leathem, Director of Legal and Business Affairs at the PPL has revealed to DJmag.

?The decision taken was that CD-Rs were an unnecessary complication of the simple license we had come up with.?

what a joke, the number using cdrs would dwarf those using laptops by 100 to 1 easily

Yep....... This is about playing the song in public. I imagine this license is not geared towards EDM but rather DJ's playing well known pop and dance artists...stuff downloaded from itunes etc... I haven't had a chance to look at the "350" labels yet but I doubt they're going to bust somebody for playing a Trafik tune...
