    Re: Did you feel this...?

i dont think it was as bad as you think. a lot of big name DJ's leaned into it a one point or another. luke fair was one of the leads to this when he tried to put some electro samples into music to make it funkier and like when it all went dark, everyone took it a bit too far.

there is plenty of wonderful producers and DJ who still keep it dark, evil and deep without going too far. guys like randall jones, fortier, mara, dousk, OBA, snake sedrick, the whole tigerhook corp, noble, and more are still doing it deep, musically, and are avoiding the stereo typical, quote/unquote, electro sound that lacks developement and groove. sertac kaya, blake jarrel, and others are brilliant up and coming producers who will soon be tops, and down the line we should be looking at them like we look at breeder and orbital now. its out there, ya just need to find it and listen.

or if anyone can ever talk diggers into revealing his set from spirit (aka twilo) in NYC, its was sickening. ask poto, DVS, nemrac, and others, a bunch of us were there.

also, try hunting down hector romero music form late in the year, ask rubyraks about the sullivan room set we went to completely fucked up. THAT was surprising.

also, andy newlands set from HOLOSOUND's party in NYC was a MS favorite. i have it on my home comp somewhere (i forgot where i saved it) but a bucnh of us have the set and andy is a nice enough guy that he would proably re send you the link.

I really really enjoyed the Kiss - Gutterstylz. Just thought it was a perfect mix. I also think prog should be a mixup of many different styles. Perhaps this is one of the reason it has lasted so long. I like dj's who can mix it up ... toss in some breaks, some min, some dirty, some light, etc. The overall set is what is important to me, and the impact it leaves. To classify to one genre and stay there is pretty boring, and you will miss out on a lot of stuff. This music evolves like a mother fucker. I would hate for it to stay the same.

                        Re: Did you feel this...?

First, I have nothing against electro or tech sub-genre of house. Actually I love these sub-genres as much as progressive; just I kind of give my liking more to progressive. In my collection I have lots electro and tech house, and I am always happy to find more of such music. Besides I love very much also trance, funky, techno, drumm&base even!
In this thread I just tried to see if I am not the only one who noticed this phenomena. Also wanted to hear other people opinions why is that. So, I am happy to see you speaking your opinion.

In reference to ?good music? notion? I consider this concept kind of? cheap? sorry. Here is why. Sometimes I ask one: ?What music do you listen to? I mean what music you give your choice to?? Person answer is: ?Well, I love any music, just it has to be good music.?
As soon is I hear that I come to a conclusion, this person has no taste. You might and should have respect to all other genre because it is art and we music honor real art. But as individuality you always give your preference to one or the other if you have taste, while keeping respect to other genres.

great, you are smart. last time i checked music is a personal thing, so yes taste will differ from individual to individual. i hope to God i do not listen to the same God awful music you do, that would be a fucking travesty. and if it is true, thank God I have my Heckler & Koch right next to me, so I can blow out my brains all over my bathroom wall. one more thing, your an idiot and welcome to the board.

Totally agree. It?s not the 1st time I?ve heard this argument and I totally can?t understand it : being eclectic means you have no taste and don?t really love music...

1st of all, I think it was Oscar Wilde who said "my tastes are simple, I only like what is good" or something to that effect: My opinion is the same...I only like and listen to what I consider good music and it would be pretty blindsighted of me to just pick a "genre" and never listen to anything else...not to mention boring and stifling.

You talk about appreciating art, I think you are doing the opposite.

Last night I decided to watch some music DVD?s, 1st I watched the Delta Heavy DVD and then Deftones live in Hawaii, now I?m listening to Joy Division?s Closer while typing this and next I might put on some Ulrich Schnauss... all different, all good TO ME.

But you think this means I have no taste...well, enlighten me then, o Mighty One, what IS good music?

(I don?t even know why I get into these types of arguments...discussing taste...sheesh...)
