i dont think it was as bad as you think. a lot of big name DJ's leaned into it a one point or another. luke fair was one of the leads to this when he tried to put some electro samples into music to make it funkier and like when it all went dark, everyone took it a bit too far.
there is plenty of wonderful producers and DJ who still keep it dark, evil and deep without going too far. guys like randall jones, fortier, mara, dousk, OBA, snake sedrick, the whole tigerhook corp, noble, and more are still doing it deep, musically, and are avoiding the stereo typical, quote/unquote, electro sound that lacks developement and groove. sertac kaya, blake jarrel, and others are brilliant up and coming producers who will soon be tops, and down the line we should be looking at them like we look at breeder and orbital now. its out there, ya just need to find it and listen.
