16 BIT LOLITAS
It was in 1955, in a small club in a desolate mountain village in the Jordanian hills that totally nothing happened that was or is in any way relevant to this biography of the 16 Bit Lolita's. Therefore this whole introduction is actually totally nonsensical and should be ignored. Let's start over again.. The 16 Bit Lolita's are Ariaan Olieroock & Peter Kriek. Both with a firm background in religious choir music and country they decided in 2003 to try and do something new. After 10 Grammies for their latest album entitled: 'Lord we miss the groove!', they decided to reset their careers and started making dance music.
After moving from New York to Amsterdam, they instantly started working on a new 'dance' sound. In the beginning it was hard to remove all the country elements and that occasional 'Sanctus' that Peter always seemed to want to slip in. It was inevitable that a new way of thinking about music and about music production had to be developed.
But soon they got the hang of it and the quality of their dance music increased dramatically. The first few releases on Deep records and Extrema records featured such well known tracks like: (Lord) Take my life, (put your faith) Put it in (the Lord), Trading places (in the confession booth). It was clear that they had left their religious/country/choir careers and had fully entered the world of dance music!
A string of releases followed on such labels as: Yoshitoshi, Alternative Route (to heaven), Release (yourself to the Lord) records, Sadie records, Plastic Fantastic, Nu Republic (of the Lord), Armada, Minimal records, DK records, LMR, showcasing an increasingly mature dance sound for the young and old!
In the meanwhile, in 2004, Aad & Peter also started bringing their music to clubs, doing a collaboration with Dutch DJ / Producer Stef Vrolijk. Throughout the year 2004 they performed as a live act in conjunction with the DJ-sets of Stef, playing at most of the big festivals and big gigs in Holland throughout the year.
They continued growing as producers and as Djs / live-act. Nowadays their music is played by all the relevant Djs in the world. The world of dance music (just like the world of religious choir music / country before) is at their feet. Watch out for the 16 Bit Lolita's in a club near you! It will be a spiritual experience!
Thanks for tuning in!!!
