I HATE THE CITY, my girlfriend is moving there very soon , so i will be spending a ton of time there

however i love the jazz bars in allston though. quite a nice night to have a few drinks in peace.

^ You should go to Wonder Bar on Friday nights, its in Allston and on Fridays whenever i have gone they have a live band that is great

if you like good jazz, there is a place called 'the good life' (actually, there are two) that used to have, don't know if they still do, a woman by the name of karen parker (i think that's her name) play.

i was there a couple of times a few years back and i remember a cool bar, and stiff drinks and a cozy little basement spot where the jazz flowed.

i forget the areas that the places are in but it's worth even checking citysearch in case ou are ever near by.
