So my CD burner on my computer went to crap this weekend... For some reason my computer froze and when I rebooted it it didn't recognize my CD burner drive. I shut it down and then unplugged it and plugged it back in. It then recognized the CD drive, but it wouldn't read CD's or CD-Rs, so I ended up downloading a driver for it thinking my problem would be solved after that. Nope! When I'm trying to install the driver I get a fatal error stating "In order to be able to flash the drive to the new firmware, Adaptec's Aspi needs to be installed first. Please shut down this Flashtool. Install Aspi and reboot your system." So I downloaded the newest Aspi for Windows XP, rebooted the system, and I'm still getting that damn error! Is my drive shot for good? Should I take it to a repair shop or just buy a new one? Help!
