Born in 1976, multi talented Dutch artist C-Jay took up an early interest in electronic and experimental music from the hands of artists like Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis and Tangerine Dream?
At the age of 11, C-Jay started taking his first muscial educations on the ins- and outs of both digital and musical instruments, with the enthousiastic love and support of his parents??
And now years later at the age of 29, C-Jay is as diverse as it can get in the dance music business: recordstore owner (sessions recordstore), dj, producer, labelowner (the sessions recordings) and promoter of his own underground dance nights, called ?The Sessions??
Guest dj?s who played with him on his events include: James Holden, Chris Fortier, Quivver, Chris Cowie, Jaydee, Anthony Pappa, Mo Shic, Andy Jarrod, Fred Numf and many more.
2005 was the start of a very good year for his Sessions events. Some of the Dutch top clubs like paradiso, asta, XL and lexion venue now ask him on a regular basis to do his thing there. The C-Jay sound is spreading more and more.
After being a solo musician all of his life, C-Jay hooked up with Dutch top engineer BlueSparkle in 2001 and got his first worldwide release in the Spring of 2004.
This tune, called SwayWatch, got signed to the Moun10 imprint, (owned by Jaydee) and got massive support from artists like The Flash Brothers, Chris Fortier and Fred Numf. After this first one, the attention of the scene rapidly grew. Heads were turning into C-Jay's direction so to say.
His second release was made together with his friend Jaydee under the ?Graylock? moniker, and got released on First Impression Recordings, the label of ??Jaydee. This release got supported, played and charted by Armin Van Buuren, Ton TB, Paul Van Dyk, The Flash Brothers, Carl Cox and many more. The release also made it easily into the higher ranks of the Balance Record Pool charts.
Due to the fact that both releases were received so well by the international dance scene, C-Jay decided to start his own recordlabel, ?The Sessions Recordings.? The big idea behind it was having no boundaries in releasing his own material, not having to depend on other labels in this early stage of his career and trying to draw the attention of the big guns even more. The label soon became a fact, and the first release hit stores worldwide in november 2004.
The label is about C-Jay?s own productions, his co-productions with other artists and remixes of his tracks by established names. Release TSR001 is C-Jay only. Release TSR002 is with a Jaimy remix on the b-side and TSR003 is C-Jay vs LeRon & Yves Eaux. All 3 tunes were received very well on a worldwide scale and indeed his plan worked: now he definately had the attention of the whole progressive music scene...both dj's and labels.
Artists who support everything he produces since early 2005 include Hernan Cattaneo, Anthony Pappa, Quivver, Shiloh, Satoshi Tomiie, Parham, DJ 19 and Kasey Taylor: all big fans of C-Jay's soundscapes, and dropping his tunes all over the world. Not bad if these people can be called your fans!
Late November 2005 C-Jay?s first co-production with his friend Mick Wilson (UK) appears on the well respected Dutch imprint Cyber Records. This masterpiece, called ?Darkism?is a personal favourite of none less than Anthony Pappa and Hernan Cattaneo, who both have been dropping it a lot in their sets of summer / fall 2005. Since spring 2005 C-Jay has been working closely together with Mick Wilson as a duo. So expect to hear a lot more of them in the future.
For now (January 2006) the latest news is that C-Jay signed a deal with Climax Recordings (UK) for 2 releases in January and April 2006, Plastik Park (Germany) for February 2006, a second release with Cyber Records again also for February 2006, Existence Recordings (Canada) for March 2006 and a tune for 19Box Recordings (Japan) for June 2006.
C-Jay is now working together in the studio with Mick Wilson, Eelke Kleijn and DJ 19 on a regular basis. It's not the time for resting, its time for working hard and bringing the world some high quality music.
Having shared dj booths with almost every big star of the progressive scene, C-Jay is bound to become one himself. 2005 brought C-Jay playing gigs in Poland, Holland, Germany, Belgium and the Ukraine, and the rest of the world is waiting for him. Watch out for this multi-talented hot shot from Holland?.
Not doing it for the Hall Of Fame, but just loving his job and the scene, C-Jay is known for his motto: ?Progressive is an attitude?.?
Well done boy! Exactly what i meant: darkdriven uplifting stuff...
Hernan Cattaneo (when asked by C-Jay if he liked his latest tunes...)

C-Jay is a guy who wants to develop, develop in every way he can.
The new generation... I know him as a serious player on the decks and as a fine producer.
Almost 5 years he is the Main man behind the Sessions parties.
If one person knows how to explain the word Progressive to you than he is.
Progressive is his thing, besides playing it he is a good producer as well.
His productions like "Slag", "Noorderlicht" (a cooperation with Yves Eaux) and his latest production with Mick Wilson (Til!t) "Darkism" are played by all the BIG GUNS of the scene....including me.
I think we can talk about a multi talented guy here.
Besides of this all is C-Jay one of my best friends because he is down to earth and honest....and you can't say that from all the other talented guys these days.
C-Jay......keep that name in mind......
