    jimmy van m...

what are your thoughts on this guy?

i'd only heard of him a few times before i saw him live last year. He's decent, i wasnt too sure how his mixing was, but his track selection was decent at best. I was chatting w/ some guys in the club that drove like 5 hours to see this guy. pretty ridiculous imo. I ended up leaving about midway (???) through his set. overall ill rate him 6/10. <---- and thats being very generous.

best warmup style dj on the planet.
some of the witchery i witnessed him create before s&d were taking over, was amazing.
the man can build the tension early in the night like no other.

as far as his peak time mixes, i'm not too sure i've ever heard one that made my pants move.

now mix cd's... bedrock cd 1 was ingenious! cd 2 was also enjoyable. i would really have loved to see this guy do a Nubreed mix or flat out GU mix back when GU was in its hayday. but i suspect he'll release his own compilation within the next 6 years.

He is a genius when it comes to music IMO! I have to agree with jibs that he is the absolute best guy in the world to build a set for S & D. Mixing is usually flawless. I had a chance to see him headline once at Firestone back in the day when Sasha canceled and he f*cking ripped it up!!! I was pissed that sasha canceled because it was going to be my first time hearing him, but Jimmy made me forget all about seeing sasha for that night. He just dropped non-stop bad ass tracks one after another.

So white-middle class Americans have been told by their Television sets to be fearful of:

                      1. Mexicans/Latinos from the South bringing drugs and killings n' shit.
                      2. African Americans cause mos def they are raging a race war and want to occupy America like how the plebs occupied Wall St.
                      3. Iranians/Afghans/Any one of middle eastern origin to be quite frank, cause you know Islam...
                      4. North Koreans/Chinese cause you know everything...

                      Am I close here?

His Bedrock Cd was def. the balls when it came out. No doubt he is a gret opening DJ I mean you have to be when S & D choose you all the time.
