Weekly is tough cause getting a regular crowd to have a weekly ritual outing on a wednesday night is tough... whereas once a month you can make your friends come everytime and make them bring others too...
The location has been a hookah bar for a long time, and due to the nature of the establishment, it has a license for legal tobacco smoking... there's big hookahs at every table (well the tables are low to the ground and there are lots of booths and comfy couches... the downstairs has a big long couch and smaller tables and a large open space that would be called a dancefloor if they had a caberet license... and a killer new jbl system that I like a lot.. and it's very soundproof which is good for going late and pumping it as much as you want...
Thanks Jib, Tiddles, and Ska!!!
And Steve, no fuckin hesitation on that guest set EVER!
cheers mike, handy to know. i wonder what is going to happen down Edgware Road.
Thanks kids... Sander beat my ass into the ground last night, beautiful set with a KILLER fuckin last 2 hours and no cheese tracks at all, a few too many soulful vocals for a half hour around 4am for my tastes, but bravo and nice to hear and see him back doin his thing and enjoying it.
Not really, the usual blond mullet guy with his two powerbooks was doin all the visuals I think, Sander was playing a mix of Vinyl and CD's and dancin in the booth now and then, great crowd interaction with a lot of smiles and eye contact to me and my friends who are big regulars for his shows... and he played a lot of yummy dirty tribal, a lot more than I have heard him play ever before... and very well I might add...
Has anyone seen my brain around here? I had it yesterday, but somehow it's been misplaced....
Just play great music and don't pander to the cheese crowds as it won't help you in any way. Just play what your heart desires and people will come...and if you're good enough on those monthly gigs. More people will show up and then WANT you to make it a bi-weekly or weekly. Believe me bro...it can happen for you! You got the good tracks! Just play the shit out of them.
