just bought a new sound card

creative audiogy 2 nx for my laptop. And . the sound quality is fookin class. compared to my shit one in my laptop and home computer. this kicks ass. now i can burn my mixes on my computer and stream dj sets of the net . anyone else have one of these or better?

Yeah i have heard thats a good one but it was a bit pricee for me. my one cost me 200 australian and the echo indigo was just over 300.

I have a Tascam US-122 that I use for production


It's pretty handy for recording from the internet, I just loop the outputs back around to the inputs and fire up SoundForge.

I have an audigy nx2 also. Bought it because I was getting a hum when doing recordings (on my rack computers) and since this one does the a-d conversion outside the computer thought it was the way to go. Great sampling rates too.

Geoff, how do you like that indigo? That's the card I've been considering for my laptop. Though I haven't been using my laptop much for production work, I'm still wondering how that card would work with ableton. Any experience/advise?

You should really spend some extra time saving up money for a good sound card for a computer. Especially if you plan on producing music with it. Because in the end those cheaper soundcards are just going to waste your time as you constantly float back and forth to burn a cd of the touched up version of your song because your soundcard just doesn't handle the bass or treble correctly. There really are so many variables in this matter. Buying a more expensive one does really make a huge difference. It's kinda like these talks on here where we all speak about good mixers vs great ones. The great ones all cost you way more then the good ones but in the long run you're a happier person as you went after quality.

i love the indigo and highly recommend it. i have soundforge and cd architect installed on my laptop which is what i use when i travel for editing sets, production work etc.... I don't have ableton on my laptop so no experience there. That being said it's a great noiseless soundcard that'll turn your laptop into a proper DAW.

I'm surprised none of the guys that produce said they had one. I thought there was nothing but if you were going to create music.

I'm getting a Soundblaster X-Fi Elite with my new rig. I bought an XtremeMusic a couple months ago, but took it back cuz I wanted the better version with the X-Ram. But I put it through it's paces while I had it...and it sounded awesome.
