    straming audio problem please help

Hey all just bought a new sound card the other day and it works great. now my problem is straming audio from the net. what i am doing is straming the audio from my home computer to my laptop through rca cables and a new external soundcard (creative audiogy 2nx). now i am getting alot of static and a hissing sound. This sound only happens through say samuria fm, play fm, and especially end night club board. i have tried the kiss fm site and john digweed show and it works ok. how do i get rid of that sound. what parts of the volume control do i have to mute.
i have gone from my microphone in my home computer through to my line in in my external sound card which is plugged through a usb cable. am i doing this right?? also i have made mp3's from some of my records and they sound ok. but i would like them to be a little bit louder. what should i be muting in the volume control etc. thanks for any advice.

Also is it best to stream them as a wave file first and then convert it into an mp3 file, or should i just copy them as a mp3 to begin with. also with wave files whats the best settings eg bit rate etc. my sound card is a 24 bit soundcard. sorry bout all the questions but once i figure all this out i should be right
