My friend also went overseas to teach english.

He ended up in Morrocco (where his family is from) and really really likes it. He bought this enormous hacienda with a sort of patio in the middle that opened to the sky and when it rains it just falls right inside.. really nice.

And on his time off, he gets to travel to amsterdam, prague, etc... but I dont think his place is as beautiful as where you were.

china is only quasi commie it's really extremely capitalist in many ways. I came into a city around christmas after living in the mountains without any modern conveniences for a while and was shocked. EVERY store had signs for merry christmas(the funny thing is beside for the consumer aspect christmas is a lot like st. pattys in the states...noone real cares about what what they're celebrating but it's an excuse to go out and get drunk) . sometimes here people ride around on bikes with motorola ads (like 10 peeps in a row)

I think some reports had its GDP pegged to strongly overpass the US in the next 5-7 years if the current trends as we know it on both sides continue...that country is exploding right now w/capitalism...

but also there's still those rural areas that live the more simpler life even w/o some "necessities"

that's awesome. past week I haven't been able to stop thinking about moving to a spanish-speaking country for a year... I'm thinking about re-enrolling in some spanish classes, and it would be pimp if I could go live in Spain/Mexico/Argentina/etc for a year to use it. my next dream imo

no they are in the Qinghai prefecture, in the Yushu district except for the one with the trees by the river which was taken in the Tibetan Autonomous Region about 7 hours drive away from Qinghai if going towards Lhasa.

Thanks for the greetings, now it's time to go home and dust off them records. I was stoked when I went to Thailand because they actually had some decent dance music cds there, unlike china (well maybe you could find some in shanghai but I never made it there...everything around me was super cheese, shit that would make tiesto seem progressive

if you get the chance before you leave, go to a small village called Yang Shuo, which is about an hour east of Guelin, in the south of china. i was there for three weeks last summer, and it is as close to paradise as i've ever seen.
