1. GENERAL
If you post a link to a mix you like and want to share with others do not forget to include a link to the artist's website be it his own one or a myspace or other community account. Also include a link to the radio station be it terrestric or Internet only to show some respect to the work that's done behind the scenes to make YOU listen to the music you enjoy.
2. DIRECT / ILLEGAL LINKS
Sharing of any copyrighted and commercially available material like tracks, CD's and DVD's is forbidden. We try to support artists and though we allow you to share radio and DJ promo mixes, publishing illegal links to commercial releases is a No go and a valid reason for us to ban your account.
Just as much as we hated our links being stolen from MS and posted on sites, we can understand other sites not wanting their links stolen either.
If you found a great set you want to share, and it's on another site, post the link for that site, NOT THE LINK TO THE SET. Please respect the hard work that people put into their own sites. If you have a promo set from someone that they've posted on GU or something, that's a different story...
Every topic where direct links are posted without the author making it clear that he's authorized to post them will be just deleted without further comments and people who post two times direct links will be banned from the member set and recommendations forum which means they can no longer browse this section at all.
All i'm saying is, be respectful, give credit where credit is due.
3. TAG ALL ARTISTS TO YOUR THREADS
Tagged sets are the backbone of the [ms] DJ Database! To tag an artist in a new thread, there is a "Tag Artist" field in the New Thread screen. Enter a portion of the artist's name, click search, then select the artist in the results to tag them. You can only tag one artist while creating a new thread, but multiple can be tagged once it has been created.
Additional artists can be tagged to a thread by clicking the pencil icon in the Tagged Artist window while viewing the thread. You can currently only tag an artist to a thread if you are the thread's creator.

4. ALTERNATE LINKS TO SETS WE ARE HOSTING
Alternative links to any special mixes or MCast shows that [ms] hosts directly may not be posted to P&R until we have put them offline. It is kind of pointless to post links to shows here on Mercuryserver while they can be heard and downloaded for free on www.mcast.mercuryserver.com so please guide people over there if you want to share an MCast mix you heard and liked. This is also valid for our collaboration show "MCast sessions" on Proton radio. We have an agreement with them and post the mixes a month after they were aired on Proton radio in high quality so do not post them in advance.
5. FRISKY RADIO MIXES
Because of a request from Frisky radio threads containing links to mixes that were broadcast on Frisky radio cannot be posted on Mercuryserver anymore.
UNLESS:
A) The thread bears no reference to Frisky Radio
B) The Mix contains no voiceovers indicating it was aired/played on Frisky Radio
C) You are the DJ who has created the mix.
Any other threads will be deleted without further notice.
6. RATING MIXES
If you listen to a set, please try to rate the set with the 'Rate this Thread' option above the first post of each page of the thread. This rating will be displayed on the forum index, and will help others determine if they should download the set.
Things to consider when rating a thread:
- Don't rate a mix that you made. It's biased... let the community rate it.
- Don't rate a mix that is of a genre you don't like. e.g, it may be a great techno mix but you gave it a bad rating because it's trance.
- When rating, factor in mixing quality, track selection, and sound levels/sound quality. Nobody wants a set recorded at 56k with loud voiceovers.
- Rate a set even if it has been rated. The more ratings that appear, the more accurate it'll be!
- Remember that a 3 is still an "average" set...don't throw 4s or 5s around unless it deserves it! I'm guessing most sets posted will be average or just above it. We don't want to saturate the board with all 5 ratings, otherwise a 5 won't mean anything!
- Don't be afraid to rate a set! It's anonymous.
7. REQUESTING MIXES
In order to ensure clarity in providing a link versus looking for one, if you have a REQUEST for a Set.... PLEASE be sure to post
[REQUEST] - Name of set
Posts not meeting the criterion will be locked without further notice.
8. THREAD PREFIXES
We want to put a special highlight on mixes made from Mercuryserver members so feel free to use the prefix "[ms] member mix" when you want people to hear your mix. Choosing the prefix is not mandatory but do not use our internal prefix that's called "Special Download" because this one is reserved for mixes we are hosting on Mercuryserver officially.
The prefix "Megathread" is reserved for threads containing archives which are included in this summary: http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/...ad.php?t=61623 Do not use this prefix before it was included in this thread.
9. Transition mixes
We have a History with Digweed's show starting with day 1 in 2002. We have always hosted the mixes and still do it. Since 2011, we changed the way to offer them and went away from the fomer Download page to regular postings in the promo and recommendation subforum for John Digweed. Out of respect for Proton radio, we do not offer the 192k version before Sunday/Monday so we ask you for the same and also to never post the show before either Homegrove or Huggie Smiles are posting it. Mirrors after they posted the weekl mixes (with the same files because Homegrove records the show for us) are welcome.
