yeah. sucks that people get greedy... but imo if you don't invest it, you're bound for failure. -

I used to work for an accounting firm (head IT guy) and one of the partners showed me how people make the mistake of not getting it all at once and get it in payments. Even though you get less, after proper investments, etc. you come out way ahead.Comment

I would definitely wind up back to where I started if I won. I'd blow it all on whores, cars, coke, and gambling.Comment

Re: Lottery Winner Horror Stories
If I won 15 million after taxes this is how it would go down.
5 Million for expenditures immediately, family and stuff. The 10 million left would go into a locked interest bearing account, 5% minimum so I am seeing at least 500,000 a year. Pay the taxes on my 500k a year and live a comfortable life. The sailors of the United States Navy are among the most disciplined, devoted, and well-trained fighting men the world has ever known. They drink gasoline and piss fire, The spit bullets and shit bombs, and will swim across the ocean with a knife in their teeth just for the chance to carve up those that threaten their homeland.Comment

Under an investment plan, the Nebraska Powerball winners' $15.5 million, after accepting the lump sum and paying taxes, could produce a yearly income of about $500,000 a year.
The big issue on all of this is self-control...not many have that willpower to not take all that money and then just start blowing and spending it, whether it's on good things or not...FM
