Possibly the most innovative game ever.

Will Wright is back again. You know, the creator of the Sim series who helped you on those long nights build ginormous cities. This time with a preview of a future ground-breaking game, Spore. There's a link to the video at the bottom which is 35 minutes long, but it's a really cool video and well worth the watch.

The summary is this: You start as essentially that 1 celled organism at the beginning of evolution (creationists hold on) and you progress through different levels slowly adding different mutations to your character. You eventually build a civilization that's evolved the way you've wanted it with tons of customizable features.

But there's more, you even create the buildings and abodes that they live in. After some time of fighting in the world that's reminescent of Molyneux's Black & White, you can get a "UFO", which as well you can customize. This allows you to leave the home planet to go to various other planets to establish life there and start civilizations there. But beware, planets that don't have atmospheric conditions require you to develop that condition given tools in your UFO (tools also come at different lvls).

You can download other peoples planets and take on their civilizations (this is where the sim city-esque multiplayer, if you really wanna call it that, domain comes in) as well as travel outside of your universe to other universes, much like what Alpha-Centauri was.

It's an intriguing game and hopefully it lives up to the hype. It's like all the sim games just packed into one.

Here's the vid if you want to check it out.

Many people would sooner die than think; In fact, they do so.

that's really cool...i just hope it doesn't get really popular and fill people's minds with the notion that organisms are somehow chosen by something else to be the way they are. it seems as if the game should alter the character by the way you play, not by your choice. there are enough people with misguided opinions on evolution as it is.

but it still looks fantastic. can't wait to play it.
