there is no solution to any of this for anyone but the muslim population itself. THEY need to realize the world around them changed. THEY need to either accept it or stay away from it, NOT ask us to change for them. THEY are the ones who need to force bin laden, zaquari (spelling i know) , and the lot out in to the open. THEY are the one who need to accept we have freedoms to insult religion on OUR lands. THEY are the ones who need to start showing outrage over the discovery of bodies and the kidnappings and parades where little shit children are paraded around with bombs and guns. THEY are people who need to unite and offer peace to each other and work with us, not the other way around. we have progressed beyond the confinement of women, banning of homosexuality, capital punishment for being a rape victim.

but until then, i will ignore any person who calls us ""generalizers"" or racist. because right now, as we stand, i have yet to see any reason to beleive the muslim population at large has progressed into a civil body. they have given zero reason to consider them a peaceful, loving soiciety. not one i can see. even here in NY, we have the islamist thinkers society who walk aorund with signs calling for hte death of americans and another 9/11. they even go after thier own people, women who dont wear burkas , men who dress like american people. i dont see groups of muslims yelling at them to shut up. all thier popular figures are violent, rash people. the two muslims who came to prominence for critiquing their religion have had fatwahs issued on their heads. (rushdie and the dutch PM). both now live under police protection.

You just gotta look a little past the goddamn media spin...seriously. Why do you think Europeans don't think like that? Because they're blind? Well....maybe we have a little less biased media over here when it comes to that. It seems to me that Islamic voices don't get through in your media, only scarcely, and with reason. Your government doesn't want you to moderate your opinions, because they need you to support their anti-Middle-Eastern policies. What better way to create a common enemy there?

Or (in order to avoid being called a selfrightious Yankie basher) why have the Netherlands been flipping out when it came to their model of a multicultural society? Because of the frenzy in the media after the murder on Pim Fortuyn and Theo Van Gogh. I'm not minimalising that last thing at all, I'm just saying that if the public opinion didn't get so pumped up by the media (and yeah, politicians trying to pull some electoral gain out of the murders), the socialist party hadn't beaten the crap out of the right wing front yesterday at municipal elections... I've heard a girl saying on the news she hoped that agression and the extreme opinions will make place again for a more balanced general perception... I guess that sums it up perfectly...

Hey it's not an easy answer, there are hard core wackos on both sides. There is no way to get through to them, and with each passing day/violent action they become even more dead set in their beliefs. Worse yet is that there is a mob mentality which has a way of sweeping up even the level headed people.

Basically we're going to hell in a handbasket unless we can all cool it and figure out how to push the extremists back into holes they crawled out of.

Nah, the girl is right. Both those events have been blown out of proportion by the media here, and seems like everyone has lost the ability to look at our society through their own eyes instead of through the damn papers and TV-bulletins...

in regards to how you once told me you were referring to your gal who is an albanian muslim, and then you posted her pic, do you realize the overwhelming majority of both men and women in the core of the middle eastern countries would consider your girl not to be a true muslim for a few reasons. 1. assuming you arent muslim, she is associating with non muslim, 2. she isnt in any semblence of a tradional garb, 3. she is in a serious relationship before marriage, 4. i assume she has embraced the foreign countries that are spoke of in this quote from the quaran by living, working and dating, not to mention shopping, watching tv, eating, etc.
