Roger Martinez
Roger Martinez took an exceptionally early interest in music. By the age of 3, he was banging out beats on anything and everything at hand (exploring rhythm and tonality), and playing records (from Deep Purple to James Brown) on his parents? old turntable.
At age 9, Roger bought his first house compilation, ?House Party Vol. I? (Quazar, Lucien Foort) and from that moment knew that he would become a DJ.
Too young to sneak into clubs, he caught the bourgeoning scene through seminal radio programs like ?Van Diepen?s Dance Department?. His record collection grew, and by 14 he was making mix-tapes for his friends and experimenting with MP3 mix programs.
At 18 (2002) Roger bought a DJ set and turned professional. Word of his unique mixing style spread quickly, and he began to gig around Amsterdam. This led to exposure outside Holland, (02 in Lisbon, Global in Klaipeda, Lithuania) which in turn led to bigger gigs in Holland (NL, Zyon, TWISTD and Mazzo, and ultimately Beachpop in 2004).
In 2005, Roger signed a personal management agreement with media financier Tom Farrell (NOIREProductions) which led directly to commitments for Cirque du Soleil?s European premieres and his first season in Ibiza (2006). In his spare time, Roger is studying Electronic Dance Production at the renowned Rockacademy.
His study immediatelly boosted his production skills, which resulted in the signing of tracks of him to C-Jay's label "The Sessions Recordings.? The first release is planned for May 2006. Besides original signings he also made a remix for a brandnew C-Jay tune which will see the light of day later this year; this one is called ? The Las Vegas Syndrome? and is bound to become huge!
It?s said about many talents how good they are and how unique they are, but in this case u can say it in true confidence: Roger Martinez?s production and dj skills are just way beyond anyone of his age and have a crispy clear mixdown you don?t often hear.
Watch out?? there?s more to come of this guy..
His release is planned for May 2006, and includes the tunes "The House" and "Unbelievable"
