Yes the navigation is wider then the rest of the site intentionally... Who says you have to stay within the borders when it comes to designing. I just thought it looked kinda cool too!
haha, it doesn't look ugly or something but i was just wondering about it (picking up designing myself as well, so i'm a detail freak ). Borders are there to be crossed by the way...i agree with you on that
