Going to San Diego

I have a conference out in San Diego and will be there Tuesday through Saturday morning and I really know nothing about the city. Anyone have any recommendations of places to go or things to see? Especially at night.

I'd like to get out to a club one night as the "scene" in Philly is absolutely abysmal and haven't been on the dancefloor in what seems like ages.

I am not the best person to give you advice but i went to san diego 2 years ago and had a great time...

I would reccomend going out in the downtown area, there are tons of clubs there.

that makes two of us in cali next week for work... i'll be in the SF area... flying down tuesday, coming back wednesday though so doubt i'll have time to do anything

there are a few clubs here in particular that you want to go to and plenty that you don't.

This link has the best list of relevent venues. I recommend, starting out at the "W San Diego, one of the best bars, etc, beach-like bar on roof, etc... then the only clubs worth checking out are "Belo , Airport , Aubergine ,Air Conditioned ,4th & B , and maybe Onyx, or On Broadway. On broadway hasn't been doing so great lately, but its still one of the biggest/nicest. If you just wanna hang out, there are endless bars and restaraunts. Dussini is one that I have enjoyed lately, especially the 3rd floor loft...these are the spots locals would go, the rest are tourist traps imo.

I like the W in Chicago... they have a DJ playing in the lobby sometimes. Last time I was there it sounded great. My girlfriend and I sat there and had a couple drinks and soaked in the music... It was that good!

To bad you are not here this weekend. Hernan Cattaneo and Dave Seaman are at 4th & B tonight. Blank & Jones tonight and Peace Division Saturday @ On Broadway. Steve Porter @ Belo this Saturday night. All of these clubs are within blocks of each other (downtown gaslamp district).

Next weekend not so hot. Check wanttickets.com for the San Diego listings for events. The 4th & B shows have been a blast. Next Friday it's Roger Sanchez. This is one of the only clubs that is open after 2:00am (closes @ 4:00am).

Jim Gaffigan is at the Sprekles Theater (downtown gaslamp) next Saturday night. Get tickets from Ticketmaster.
