Firefox is gorgeous. What a great piece of software. No more pages and pages filling up my windows taskbar. It really has changed my browsing behaviour. And I love the way Firefox loads the pages. Tabbed browsing is GENIUS!

Mozilla is the not-for-profit behind the lightning fast Firefox browser. We put people over profit to give everyone more power online.

        specifically here FIREFOX

the download statusbar and googlebar plugins are particularly useful

For me that's crucial. Others may have cool add ons, but that's the important part. Once you start doing your own web pages you notice that IE leads the pack here. And I don't really have any problem with spyware... What is it that everybody's talking about?
            Spyware is driving me crazy
The main reason i changed to firefox was that...
Compatibility with java/vbscript is just right, most scripts work perfect... no exploits yet, so no annoying installers, and almost no publicity.

Its not so much for switching between windows that I love Tabbed browsing, its the fact you can click on a link with your mouse wheel and it loads up in a tab behind you, while you continue reading... No more "Right Click, Open in New Window, Alt Tab back to previous page" nonsense.

I agree about compatibility, although I haven't had many problems, there is a plugin you can get which gives you a right click menu option to "Open Link in Internet Explorer" for those rare occasions when Firefox won't cut it.

Yeah, I shift+click to open in a new window, then alt+tab back. True, it's a little redundant... but at least it lets me know it's opening. I know Netscape will let you click with the wheel for a new tab, but it opens it in the foreground instead of the background.

For the record, this will work. The issue is with any additional browser windows opened (CTRL + N).

Are you saying that resolution is for a different problem?

Same issue, I believe the reason why he is losing the status bar in the first place is because in WinXP/IE 6, the status bar does not appear by default when you open an additional browser window by hitting CTRL + N, or, file --> New --> window

If you open additional windows from the shortcut on the desktop or quick launch bar you will get the SB, but it take a little longer for the window to appear.

it works for me fine with XP/IE6. ctrl+N, file...new...window, desktop shortcut, they all have a status bar when I try em.

Key phrase: by default. You have obviously changed the setting, after doing so all new windows will indeed have the SB.
