PERCEPTIONS
Hosted by Dres and David Josephs
Every Second and Fourth Monday of the Month starting at 3pm EST
Well WMC has gone and my semi-month long break from the show has too - we have a great lineup coming down the pipe for the show which has already featured such amazing talent. The next few months expect mixes from Chuck Love, Lottie, Tim Deluxe and many more.
This weeks show we have an excellent talent - Anthony Pappa. Respected as one of the most technically brilliant dj's in the biz, Anthony provides a stellar mix that goes from minimal funk to seriously grooving house that at 4pm on a Monday is sure to cure what's ailing ya.
More about Anthony:
A DJ at the age of 13 and a DMC champion at 15, Anthony Pappa had more than a promising start to his career. By 19 he won a life changing competition in Mixmag, earning him his first trip to the UK for a gig at the prestigious Ministry of Sound.
Although these initial achievements promised great things, nothing could have serviced as an indicator for Anthony?s future as a world leader in dance music. At 21, the Australian born DJ made the bold step of returning to England equipped with nothing other than his outstanding mixing ability and a boxful of his beloved records with the intention of making a mark on the scene.
Dave Seaman of Bothers In Rhythm and Stress Records fame, impressed with Anthony?s passion and natural talented with music, snapped Anthony up immediately as part of the team. Over the next four years at Stress, Anthony?s DJing profile shot thought the roof due to the constant touring and high profile gigs with the likes of Renaissance, but as usual he didn?t rest on his laurels.
Teaming up with engineer extraordinary, Alan Bremner, Anthony launched himself into studio work as Freefall, leading to the massive club and chart hit, ?Skydive?. Remixes on classics such as The Beloved?s ?Sun Rising? also led to further attention from press, clubbers and DJs alike.
Since then Anthony has tirelessly toured the world over and over in order to push his tough take on electronic music to virgin crowds. Production work has become an equally important area of his career with singles and remixes typifying his sound being created on an increasingly faster rate along side current studio partner, Barry Gilbey.
Anthony?s mix albums for Global Underground?s ?Nubreed?, EQ?s ?Balance? and albums with React and Renaissance have added an even more complex facet to his career. His impeccable mixing, programming and dance floor sensibilities have transferred perfectly on to compilation cds ? a fact which has been proved by the reactions to the mixes (not to mention the sales figures!).
His affable and genuine character, a grueling DJ schedule and studio forays combine to make Anthony one of the most suitable ambassadors for dance music in the world today.
