I honestly don´t give a shit about this guy dying. That was what the thread was about, right? Like Chuck D said one day "Elvis was a hero to most, but he never meant shit to me"
No one can say this is a victory for music, I mean just look at 2 Pac, that dude made more records after dying that when he was alive! This was Proof´s smartest career move.

Saying all rap is shit and all rap lovers are ignorant gangster wannabe´s is too sweeping a statement, but, like Chuck D (again) said, rap is black america´s CNN. So what does the currently popular type of rap and hip-hop tells us about America in general these days?
Some of you people can disagree, and may even ask "what does a guy from Portugal know about this?", keep in mind we have a huge 2nd generation african community here and the fact is that I see a lot of white and black youths here being highly influenced by the hip-hop lifestyle, they talk like they are all gangsters, they steal, they don´t give a shit about school, and have no plans for their future. They gang up to rob entire suburban trains, they sweep beaches in gangs of hundreds, they have basically ruined every major dance music event in Lisbon in the last two years, who do you think are their role models? Rappers!
The best they can come up with is someday having a clothing or shoe company like P Diddy or something, but do you think they´ll go through business school for that? I don´t think so...
Are they all like that? No way, I had some friends in one of Lisbon´s worse ghetto´s, I saw some amazing examples there. Unfortunately, they were a minority and, strange or not, they prefered traditional african music (I used to dance with them) to rap.
Oh and btw, my older son is a mulatto, so no use playing the race card on me either.Comment
