well here on the 14th, ie 3 days before the end of tax season, i get it. i thought i could make it through this year with out it, but again it hit me. it equals the point when i am entirely past being polite and nice and i get the client who is a complete moron.
sooooo....
about an hour ago, this couple walks into my office, sits down, and give me their paperwork, and i reach for the W-2 and see a wicked nice salary of 2,456,950. guy is a broker, wife makes great money too (just over 140K). so i look at his witholding to get a feeling of the return and where i have to take it...... well, last year i laughed in the face of someone who made over 1 million and had 60K in withholding. well this fine gent made 2.5 and has only 72,446 in fed withholding......... essentially i can already tell they gonna owe a ton, like more than most of us make in a year. so i lost it. i stared at them for a good 3 minutes in slience without even looking at my computer. they asked ""whats wrong"" i said he was stupid for not taking any money out. it gets a lot worse. the guy is cool, he doesnt care and is fine with owing over 100K. HOWEVER. the wife is one of those women who conciously and continously make an effort to ""wear the pants in the family"". i.e. she HAS to be the boss and have final say. a real shark. so i wrap up thier return and even with pushing a few things, i tell her she owes 135K to the government. SHE GOES APESHIT. screAming at her husband and me. so, already having enough of this shit for the last 3.5 months, i lose it and go back at her. ""well what can i tell you. im sorry i dont write the damn laws, i interpret them, YOU were the ones who are responsible to call ME if you dont know what to do. YOU were the ones who took NOTHING in withholding.not my fault, i did my best."" the cunt gets up, walks out of my office, and into my bosses. i proceed to follow. she goes off on me. and throws the return on the desk of my boss. he looks at it. and tries to play advocate. 10 minutes later she storms back into my office, grabs her shit and leaves. enter the boss. (who BTW isnt happy working on passover) and he tells me i did a good job on the return but i pushed too much.
