Planet Mu has put together a new 14-track label compilation, simply entitled 14 Tracks from Planet Mu.

Many of the label's latest additions are featured, including Oriol, The Internal Tulips and the Irish duo Solar Bears, all of whom released their debut albums on the label in 2010. As for longtime stalwarts, bass specialists Ikonika, FaltyDL and Floating Points each make an appearance. Most of the tracks are previously unreleased, though a few new tunes are thrown in there as well, including one from Boxcutter's next album, slated for release sometime this year. The collection will be available digitally and on CD at the end of this month.

                    Wagon Christ - Toomorrow {Ninjatune}

                    Wagon Christ
                    Toomorrow

                    ZEN163
                    Released 14/03/2011
The one and only Luke Vibert returns to the fray under his most celebrated and wondrous moniker, Wagon Christ (to clarify, he is not under a wagon. Nor on one. Nor is he, strictly speaking, Christ, though we can’t rule out his messianic status). The king of stoned exotica, ridiculous vocal samples, toothsome puns, swinging rhythm and the psychedelic groove, Vibert has never been one to take himself too seriously, but his music continues to delight.
'Toomorrow' is a case in point. Built around a dizzying array of vocal samples – by turn funny, vacuous, pointed and occasionally threatening – the album spins out in a hundred and one directions whilst always being recognisably a Wagon Christ production. 'Ain’t He Heavy, He’s My Brother', sounds like an instrumental outtake from a lost album by A Tribe Called Quest on ecstasy. 'Manalyze This!' combines pounding bass with the campest keyboard line heard outside of a tent. 'Accordian McShane' makes light work of timpani and massed crazy orchestral stuff. 'My Lonely Scene' soundtracks a singles-club disco for monsters, while' Respectrum' is cop show music for Emo Phillips. 'Rennie Codgers' emulates Blackpool-beat at its most advanced while 'Wake Up' is reminscient of being chased through a particularly disturbing sex dream by bees. 'Lazer Dick' brings pure phazer-phunk, 'Sentimental Hardcore' delivers Disney with gurns. 'Harmoney' is an advertisement for non-ironic mullets and 'Mr Mukatsu' finishes the record with a limping, limpid beauty.
With recent releases on both Planet Mu and Rephlex, Luke Vibert remains one of the key players in the scene that developed out of Cornwall and the West Country in the mid-nineties. 'Toomorrow' is a funny, clever, swinging, moving reminder of why.

                      Hans Bouffmyhre
Goodbye Anxiety - Out now on Harthouse!

As one of the hottest newcomer in techno Hans Bouffmyhre from Glasgow gives his debut on Harthouse and it's not his debut on Harthouse only. Strictly speaking it is his debut album filled with a new musical spirit, playful and linear, powerful and dark. So Hans Bouffmyhre could stand for a new techno generation rearranging the music and setting the focus on old and new elements to fuse them to a new mixture of intensity.

The 23 years old DJ and producer who released on labels like Perc Trax, Viva Music, Soma Records, Synewave, Harthouse, 8 Sided Dice and Autist so far begins his journey with semi minimal structures paired with classic techno highs from time to time, giving every track a special intense drive with kicks and basses. With well dosed sound arrangements and effects he creates a very special atmosphere placed somewhere between complex minimal techno and direct oldschool spirit before he kicks it off with track number five: “Second Generation“, the track that brings out the essence of the album and the sound of Hans Bouffmyhre.

What follows are very techy and strong grooves. The founder of Sleaze Records creates manyfold tracks with complex percussion structures supporting the deep and dark synthesizer atmospheres with a nervous ground potential. It seems every element wants to be the contrast of all other elements what leads them into a swirl of energy and emotions. Closing his intense album with the heavy, stomping and mystic track “As You Were Sir“ Hans Bouffmyhre took us on the journey of the deepest techno underground of the new generation. Powerful, intelligent and straight forward.

Anjunabeats releases 'Anjunadeep 03' Mixed by Jaytech & James Grant - Feb. 28th

Firmly established as a bedrock of the progressive and melodic techno sound, Anjunadeep has scaled new heights in the past 12 months with support coming from acts as disparate as UK techno baron Dave Clarke, Laurent Garnier, Eric Prydz, Groove Armada’s Andy Cato and stadium-filler Deadmau5 – the latter commenting on Michael Cassette’s Anjunadeep anthem ‘Ghost In The Machine’: “I haven’t felt this good listening to a piece of music since Eric Prydz’s ‘Melo’ -10/10”.

Showcasing the full spectrum of the label’s diverse sounds, Anjunadeep 03 is the latest annual label collection and features 29 largely unreleased tracks that range from deep, dark and hypnotic techno sounds to upbeat, uplifting electronic house grooves.

Beginning on the lush techno of Stephen J Kroos’ "Micrsh" and the beautifully brooding deep house chasms of Martin Roth’s "Deep Style", Anjunadeep A&R James Grant’s CD1 mix continues to build through melodic techno and progressive textures with tracks and remixes from Underworld, Spooky, Michael Cassette, Andrew Bayer and promising newcomer, Soundprank.

On the second disc, Anjunadeep mainstay Jaytech shows off a slightly more upbeat and uplifting electronic house sound that touches on nu disco, electro and more classic house grooves and includes Jaytech’s own forthcoming anthem "Djembe", as well as deep audio offerings from Solarity, Dinka, PROFF, Interplay and Maor Levi.

To celebrate the release of this flagship release, Anjunadeep is holding a brace of transatlantic launch parties. The first took place at the world-famous Ministry of Sound (London) on Friday 4th February, where Jaytech and James Grant performed a blistering 4 hour back2back set for The Gallery.

The second will be at Above & Beyond’s annual Anjunabeats in Miami party at Ice Palace on Thursday, March 24th where Anjunadeep will be hosting room two. For further album tour dates, check www.jaytechmusic.com.

                          Re: Forthcoming releases

motion sickness of time travel "seeping through the veil of the unconscious"

"Seeping Through the Veil of the Unconscious" came to us out of nowhere as a demo and I think I can say with some certainty that it's the best demo we've ever received. Motion Sickness of Time Travel is the solo moniker of La Grange, Georgia's Rachel Evans. She also plays in the duo, Quiet Evenings, with her husband and runs the Hooker Vision label with him as well. And while she's done some really great stuff, this album takes all of it, everything, to incredible new heights.

Evans concocts five whirlwind romances all in the space of less than an hour. Beauty, magic and bleeding effervescence come together in perfect harmony. Vague electro meanderings hide hints of early Grouper as Evans' compositions sing like an ecstatic choir. While the songs are built around vaguely-catchy, repetitive synth backbones, she laces an incredible array of instrumental layers between those bones creating music that is as dense and complex as it is continous. Yet, the real star here is her voice. sometimes its at the fore, other times its buried underneath the plodding keys but it never gets lost and always shines.

As the opening chords and rising whispers of "Clairvoyance" begin, you are immediately immersed into the well. Evans' voice sings haunted, wordless lullabies that sound distant and strange yet oddly comforting. The entire aural world of "Seeping" is populated with ghosts, haunting the crevices between notes and adding a beguiling sense of complexity. With heavy kraut influences, "Mental Projection" is a midnight gem while the dark, rhythmic sequences of "Telepathy" would perfectly fill the halls of a spectral ballroom. These kraut and electronic leanings are part of what give Motion Sickness of Time Travel such a distinct sound. This is stunning music and an album that further unfolds with each and every listen.

The music on "Seeping Through the Veil of the Unconscious" has been remastered for vinyl by Brad Rose and cut to vinyl by D+M, presented with new art from Grant Evans. First copies on turquoise vinyl.

                          SIDE A: 1.clairvoyance 2. mental projection 3. auto suggestion
                          SIDE B: 1. telepathy 2. magnetism

                            Re: Forthcoming releases

Gail Priest – Presentiments from the Spider Garden (Endgame Records)

Spiders thrive in the lush and steamy environs of the Sydney Basin, from the nasty and brutish trapdoor dwelling types to the indefatigable species inhabiting Gail Priest’s backyard, the nation’s most populous city is literally crawling with arachnids. Austrian Poet Rainer Maria Rilke and spiders are the conceptual bedrock upon which Presentiments from the Spider Garden is based, but the music contained within has a strong affinity with Norway’s Rune Grammofon label – inhabiting a sound-world not too far removed from Deathprod, Alog and Phonophani.
Presentiments from the Spider Garden flows together hypnotically, the fourteen pieces segue subtly yet powerfully into each other. There’s a hanging tension in the heavily processed vocals and swelling guitars of ‘Tangled Paths’, leading into ‘A Surface Dwelling Race’, where harmonic arpeggios tick and build to stunning effect. There’s a hint of Lisa Gerrard in ‘Vocal Mould’ – all wordless utterances. Slowly these build into a chanting, trilling, thrumming mass only to be overtaken by what sounds suspiciously like a blocked drain, gurgling like Maja Ratkje.
The somewhat byzantine title of track seven – ‘The Araneological Calender of M. Quatremet d’Isgonval’ reminds me of the delicate yet resilient engineering of a spider’s web – suddenly as a larger creature blunders through, it disappears, only for the listener to get tangled up in the vocal snippets and whip bird cries of ‘Tongue Whiplashing’. Halfway through this piece, lopsided, wheezing accordions played by an asthmatic Gamelan orchestra familiar with Atom Heart’s ‘Replicant Rumba Rockers’ breaks in.
As the album reaches a climax and draws to its conclusion, the pieces lengthen out and become more ambient-based and esoteric. ‘Spider Dreams’ has a howling pitch bent drone reminiscent of NWW’s Soliloquy for Lilith, whilst ‘Spider Dances’ could almost be material from a late 90s Coil album. ‘In the Faded Forest’ starts off with a literal auditory interpretation before an inexorably building treated vocal refrain soars into the canopy, only to be drummed into line by the most martial of percussion.
Gail Priest has developed an aesthetic all of her own over the course of two full-length albums, numerous compilation appearances and EP’s. She’s also kept busy with writings and curatorial work on Experimental Music and other fields, plus cultural endeavours, including the 2010 Sydney Biennale, The Now Now and a recent European jaunt. Presentiments from the Spider Garden is an engaging, enigmatic and hypnotic work by an artist demonstrating a degree of maturity that comes about only through years of hard graft (in the Spider Garden).

Warp to Reissue All of Autechre's EPs in Five-Disc Box Set

The constantly innovative duo of Rob Booth and Sean Brown (a.k.a. Autechre) has another release on the way through their longtime home, Warp Records, but this won't be another batch of new songs following last year's release of the Oversteps album and the Move of Ten mini-LP. The veteran outfit is reissuing its EPs in a five-disc, 47-track box set. Entitled EPs 1991-2002 (pictured above), the release contains some of Autechre's earliest work—the Cavity Job EP (which was never before available on CD), Anti EP, and Anvil Vapre EP—in addition to more contemporary recordings, like EP 7, the Gantz Graf EP, and both of Booth & Brown's Peel Sessions.
