Funny, I could have sworn I read about 10 posts debating the meaning of progressive.

I'll settle all debate here. Progressive house is a genre, not a state of mind. Case in point, Kansas is still called progressive rock. It may have been a state of mind when the term first appeared, but it has little bearing on what it means now.

I'd like to hear this sound Digweed is playing now. Any suggestions on mixes or tracklists I can check out?

You sure it was the music that did that?

I'm not suer it is the "best" stuff anymore - particularly when I hear some of the things Hernan plays on his Metro show.

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.

Re: Diggers not a progressive Dj ?!?

It´s funny how I really stopped caring about this prog vs electro vs tech vs polka-groove or whatever.

But if you must, you can apply this progressive tag to totally different DJ´s :

Holden and Zabiela are to me "progressive" dj´s...they mix a whole mash of stuff, I still call it house music though, and you can feel they change direction slightly from time to time.

But then, you can obviously call Cattaneo a progressive dj, in the strict sense that what he plays is still the pure prog house sound.

Me, I just want quality and fresh electronic dance music...I think Diggers provides me with it.

Re: Diggers not a progressive Dj ?!?

simonr^ spot on, I doubt whether it is the best music out there right now. Hernan for me is playing the best progressive, Digweed is playing all different styles (most of them are poor IMO). Last decent digweed kiss set I heard was from Jan, when he played Slok-Lonely Child, 16 bit Lolitas-Sedna. That to me is house music. 4 years ago it would have been labelled progressive house

Re: Diggers not a progressive Dj ?!?

Progressive by definition means it changes over time. If a DJ can creat different sounds over time and its to the liking of the crowd, that imo is a progressive DJ. As far as diggers go, I have not heard him live enough over the years to give my opinion on him. I've promoted for clubs in the past, and its never about what music a DJ is known for, but about how well a DJ can build the crowd. In different venues in different cities, people will always prefer different music. If a DJ can adjust to the crowd and build the crowd to dance to his/her beats, that is a good DJ. It doesn't matter if it is prog house, trance or hip hop, you just have to work with the crowd you have.

I once heard Digweed saying that he likes quality club music... that's fine with me.
