Anneliese's uncle did this a few months ago. He shaved his head, shipped a package of food and supply to Maine where he made the pickup and started his Trek. Took him almost 3mos (FYI... that's Dr. Beyers son - UCF). Freaking insane.

had a couple of friends do this (or at least most of it) some years back...you meet some really interesting people along the way, and the scenery is second to none...and yes it does take about 3 months total.

a lot of people will do bits and pieces over years. I couldn't imagine taking 3 months off of work. Well, I could imagine it but not without getting fired.

a blind person has done the trail. Obviously not for the scenery but as an accomplishment.

I remember back in 4th grade when I traveled the entire orgegon trail. It took an exhausting TWO hours. We had some crazy adventrues, plus a few deaths due to dysentary. We got some great pictures though, (see below)

                  Re: The Appalachian Trail

I've hiked some parts of it, mostly in the northeastern part. It's always a lot of fun, cause each time I've met people who were doing the whole trek and they always have interesting stories.

that is very cool, its the type of thing that puts all this scientific madness and tricknology in perspective. I'd love to do it, but I don't see have the time or the will power to go all the way
