      Re:: Smoking cigarettes

      Congrats on your 3 weeks- it's harder than any non-smoker will ever understand!!

      It's been 4 yrs for me as of May- and I will NEVER start again!! I smoked since I was 14 & so that's 10 yrs. of my life I spent wasting my money & breath... My Dad is sick from Emphysema & he complains about feeling like someone is squeezing his ribs with every breath- There's no better deterrant than that.....

      hmm...i can't say it's been 4 yrs since I've smoked greens though.. lol but that wasnt' what I was talking about... Was it???

        cause nicotine is the most addictive substance known to man. if ciggs were ever to become illegal, the black market price of a pack of camels would be rediculous.

          So do you smoke you`re joints pure or do you pack some tabacco in there too? I have a friend who smokes j`s and he says he`s not addicted to cigs but yet every j he smokes has tobacco in. I know for a fact that the first thing he does when he gets home from work is light up. I`d say he`s addicted to cigs but he says not.

            I'm glad that the hardest part is now over!
            What I can tell from my experiences is that the first three weeks are definately not the hardest. Hard yes but not hardest. First few weeks you have successes all the way...you can breathe more easily, climbing stairs does not hurt you anymore the way you were used to it and your clothes start to smell normal and so do you. Food tastes way better suddenly and the demon on your chest goes away too so no more cough cough cough while you brush your teeth in the morning. But after a month you reach a state where you can't see or feel any improvements and it's so that you just....don't smoke anymore. When I quit this was the hardest time because I started to feel empty again and looked with Envy at people who smoked which is ridiculous but part of the mental addiction which will keep you busy longer than a few weeks. It took some more months to get rid of this feeling but I don't smoke for nearly a year now and I did not regret it. I can't tell if I will never smoke cigarettes again as the ghosts of my nicotine addiction are still coming back from time to time. It's just that it is getting easier month by month so I look forward and hope that I will be finally really clean in a few years . :wink:

              I served in the US Army and while I was deployed in Bosnia I took up smoking as a cheap buzz (light headedness) because they didn't allow us to drink at all and the rest is history.

                      Congrats Nigel! And good luck for the future.

                      I've cut back on it myself (most days I only have 1) but I'm not ready to give it up just yet.

                          I stopped in 1997 after smoking 12 years. Last year I got one from a friend fust for fun. The first time a smoke had been in my mouth in 6 years. I smoked it up and that was it. I was addicted all over again and had a 6 month relapse. I managed to quit again now for 2 months. I had no idea how easy it was to get hooked all over again, even after 6 years. Once you decide to stop, NEVER and I mean NEVER let another smoke enter your mouth.

                            Waste of time, money, and effort. To desire something so badly that does so incredibly little is just.. pointless.

                              Very well done man, I'm fortunately I can quit when I decided to leave it, now I only smoke when I drink, or when I'm on E, in that case there's nothing better than a cigarette.
                              Better smoke weed.
