Jib is right. better low volume raw recording and 'normalize' or 'limit' it later at -0.1Db.
Also soundforge has a built in 'get peak of track' so it kinda sets the max volume to normalize.
fxchain or Effect Chaining (you map the wav signal thru a noise filtering plugin, then thru a compressor/limiter)
What i have a headache now . Well it looks like to me u guy's know more than me and if anyone could go step by step with it to me please feel free and pm me. I need to learn more bout this soundforge thang
just don't record TOO low, as Normalizing it then will reduce the sound quality a bit.
I try to get it around -4/-3 after tweaking the line input and the mixer (do use master out) appropriately (one shouldn't be drastically higher/lower then the other)...normalizing it then makes it easier.
CBR (constant bitrate) is what it says..the encoding is done straight across the board at one rate.
VBR (variable bitrate) allows encoding within a specified range across the track...depending on the sounds created at a particular point is how high or low the encoding will be; it usually varies quickly so to re-produce a better sounding track overall.
Plugins are effective on Soundforge, if for example your vinyl has a few extra pops or crackles in it from playing; that can help remove them out so you don't hear it EVERY time you play the track
And definitely use LAME; much better results when encoding at a CBR of 192 or higher, or higher VBR I use a little GUI-based encoder called Wingogo...fast, light and does the trick well.

Hey fm thanks for your input, but i don't understand a thing u said. I just downloaded lame and gonna give it a try soonish after i have my dinner. I will record the vinyl through it and save it as a wave file. Then what?? Open soundforege and normalize it and then what. Sorry for all the questions guy's but it would be great if u guy's could help. Thanks again
Hey guy's what's the difference between joint stereo and stereo in the channel. When i play a trcak in itunes and get the properites of a track i ripped it says joint stereo and when i listen to a track say digweed kiss fm sets it says stereo. I think that might be the answer i need to fix. Anyone have any idea and would it make a difference.
