    Pulled in a 100lb Tarpon over the weekend

    Here are some pics of this beast my friend and I caught over the weekend. We estimate it around 100lbs and it was caught on 20lb test. It took about an hour and a half to bring him on the boat.








    Over all it was a great day of fishing since we reached the legal limit of what we could keep....

          sweet, nice catch dude. When I first read the title I thought it said, "100lb Tampon," I was like DAYUUM!!!

                      ^^^^ took an hour and a half. talking about being tired afterwards. Good thing we had beer on the boat to keep up the energy.

                          I suspect that by tomorrow this thread title will read "125lb Tarpon"

                          What do you do with the ones you keep? Sell them or eat them yourselves?

                              the trapon was released since it is not edible. As for the other fish we kept, I ate some last night and the rest is in the freezer. Some good eatn

                                  when I get home from work I will post pictures from our family vacation in Cabo San Lucas. My brother-in-law, my uncle and I caught a 550 pound, 11 feet long marlin. I have pictures with us standing next to the fish on the scale, us pulling in the fish and we actually got this fish mounted and shipped back to Tampa. It cost 3,500 for the mounting and shipping. I was sooo sore the next day so I walked into a pharmacy and bought a big bottle of vicodens. GOD I LOVE MEXICO!!!!

                                      550 lb is huge.

                                      caught the tarpon down in Flamingo (National Park at the southern tip of Florida). Wasn't in a tournament.

                                          Have you ever been to Boca Grande? We have a beach house down on Gasparilla Island. The tarpon down there are crazy! We were in the pass and saw one boat hook one and while they were fighting the fish it jumped into another boat. You can almost walk across the water from all the Tarpon down there.

                                              I have the mount slip that shows weight, length and of coure the price. It was awesome to catch that size. Our captain has lived in Cabo for 30 years and never caught a fish that big.

                                                  Most of the Tarpon that were there that day were doing their migration path from the Keys to Boca Grande. The only thing that sucked about this one was that it didn't jump. I couldn't believe it. Every tarpon I've caught always jumped except for this one.
