    Tipping USA question

    ridiculous question I'm afraid.

Resulting from a huge fight a had last night with the little lady.

I tipped a hairdresser / stylist in a salon 15%. Seemed reasonable to me. She went ballistic that it was too much.

So, what do the guys and girls residing in the US ususally tip in a salon type situation (not a get your head buzzed for 5 bucks spit and sawdust place).

    Any advice appreciated!

15% to a hair stylist , dude if you're a regular to a particular lady / man who's snipping your rug, $2 is MAX.... if your a newbie to a salon / individual, $1 is my budget. The richer I get, the bigger the tip, else she lives with it.

At resteraunts, I just double the tax (for tips) and call it even. Unless the service rendered was reminiscint to you going into the jungle to hunt your own meals....

        Re:: Tipping USA question

I'm not from the US but I was under the impression it was 10-15% - and more if you want. At least that's what I tip when I'm there...

Although I sympathise with Mr Pink on this.

          this is my advice:

wether you gave 15%, 10% or just 50 cents, your lady would think you gave to much :P

and of course.. SHE IS ALWAYS RIGHT! hehehe

i always give $2 to a normal place that costs like $15 to cut my hair. if i go to a nice salon, i'll usually tip 3 or 4 bucks because i know they try a little harder than the cheap places.
Should I fuck you at that not until the ass, inject then tremendously hard bumschen and to the termination in the eyes yes?

I would have to say anywhere from 10 to 20 percent depending on the services you receive can be the standard. It all depends on how well you know the person and how long he/she has been cutting your hair.

probably true, but its my money that I work hard to get. I should be able to spend it in whichever I way I chose..... (opens another can of worms).

                thanks for the comments -

If you got to a NICE Salon... $20 to $75 haircuts, then I agree 15 to 20%. If you go to $20 and below then $5 all the way down to a buck. Tip well, you'd be amazed how good you can make someone feel.

If you are in a nice salon, 15% def isn't too much. When I actually gave two shits about my hair, I think I used to give $5-10 tip for my cuts. But I was also paying $35-40 for the cut and they gave you booze while they were doing the chop (and the hairdresser was cute ). My wife will usually tip ?10-20, but she is also generally paying ?60+ for the cut.

Now that I don't give a fuck about styling my hair anymore and let my wife chop it, the tipping thing is much easier - a slap on the butt just 'bout does it. :P

Agreed...now let's talk about tipping in a restaurant! 15-20% is the norm. I'm getting sick of working my ass off (and I am a good server) with a $50 check for some businessmen to think that $5 is ok. I've found that businessmen tend to be the worst tippers! Oh well...in two weeks I can say adios to the restaurant biz, been doing it for 4 years and am definately ready to say goodbye!
