Nice Guy Eddie: C'mon, throw in a buck!
    Mr. Pink: Uh-uh, I don't tip.
Nice Guy Eddie: You don't tip?
Mr. Pink: I don't believe in it.
Nice Guy Eddie: You don't believe in tipping?
Mr. Blue: You know what these chicks make? They make shit.
Mr. Pink: Don't give me that. She don't make enough money, she can quit.
Nice Guy Eddie: I don't even know a fucking Jew who'd have the balls to say that. Let me get this straight: you never ever tip, huh?
Mr. Pink: I don't tip because society says I have to. Alright, I tip when somebody really deserves a tip. If they put forth an effort, I'll give them something extra. But I mean, this tipping automatically, that's for the birds. As far as I'm concerned they're just doing their job.
Mr. Blue: Hey, this girl was nice.
Mr. Pink: She was okay. But she wasn't anything special.
Mr. Blue: What special? Take you in the back and suck your dick?
Nice Guy Eddie: I'd go over twelve percent for that.

I get a hair cut and a little bleach that costs $35. I usually end up tipping $10.

I've been going to the same person for about 4 or 5 years though so I think it's worth it.

For a good salon, I don't think 15% is out of line at all -- I normally tip about 20% or so, assuming everything went OK...

I tend to tip in the 15-20% range. I've been using the same guy for years and he's never let me down.

If I lived back in the wild west days, instead of carrying a six-gun in my holster, I'd carry a soldering iron. That way, if some smart-aleck cowboy said something like "Hey, look. He's carrying a soldering iron!" and started laughing, and everybody else started laughing, I could just say, "That's right, it's a soldering iron. The soldering iron of justice." Then everybody would get real quiet and ashamed, because they had made fun of the soldering iron of justice, and I could probably hit them up for a free drink.

At resteraunts, I just double the tax (for tips) and call it even. Unless the service rendered was reminiscint to you going into the jungle to hunt your own meals....

Holy shit E...I hope you are joking...waiters and waitresses only make $2.13 an hour and have to put up with a lot of bullshit in the process...if someone's food is not right...or the cooks are taking forever to get the food prepared...it is always the fault of the wait staff. As far as hairdresser's are concerned...I hope you are going to the barber who only charges $5. I bet your friendly hairdresser and wait staff at your favorite places to dine really enjoy seeing you come in the door

                          Re:: Tipping USA question

                          Well lets see...

My other half is a hairdresser and I know he works his ass off. I think it shows respect for a job well done when someone shows appreciation to his work and talent. A 15% tip is nothing when someone takes special care and extra time to personalize your haircut to your own personality and facial features. I know he spends a lot more time on his regulars that tip well and in return they get a much better haircut. The thought is, if you don't care enough about your hair to tip and earn a little extra special care, then why should he? People get tired of working their asses off to get thrown a buck. If you want to be a cheap ass prick...go to mastercuts where every head of hair looks the same when they walk out the door (like shit).

As far as in the restaraunts, I was a waiter for many years of which I have gladly retired. That shit is for the birds. Umm lets see $2.13 an hour is all we get paid. Our lively hood depends on the customer. It was way to risky for me and full of to much fucking attitude from the guests. But I will say this...there were many times when someone thought a buck or the change from the tax was a sufficient tip...I would follow your cheap ass to the parking lot a peg you in the fucking head for leaving me change. Especially after working my ass off. I say to those who think it is an easy career, try it for one night...you will learn a whole new respect. And just a thought in closing, remeber if you are always going to the same restaraunt, don't think that the waitstaff don't remember your face if you are a cheap ass, your service will be poor on purpose because what good will it do if they work their ass for you? and also just think that if they do remember your face, they are the last person holding your food before it gets served. I have seen many disturbing things done to a person's food from the kitchen to the table because someone was known to be a cheap ass. just a thought

Tip: Styles can be applied quickly to selected text.

                            ^^ Thats my tip!

All this about tipping, have you ever considered maybe if you paid people a decent wage then they would not have to rely on tips to pay the rent or buy the shopping?

In the UK usually only resteraunts expect tips, but ONLY for outstanding service. Personally if i?ve just spent $200 on a meal and the waiter/ess was really good then i may leave a 5% tip. Before you call me tight, that?s $10 which is about equal to the hourly wage of the waiter/ess, so they have effectivly doubled their hourly wage for doing a good job. If i was that waiter then i?d be pretty happy.

thats funny you mention that. I have friends in the hospitality industry that say they cant stand serving people from UK that are here on holiday because they dont tip, like thy do it just to be stingy. then when i tell them that we dont tip back home as a practice they say well, their travel agents should remind them.. lol
