    Ethanol, our future

Not sure if anyone here watched the dateline episode a couple weeks back about Brazil and their use of ethanol as the main source for fuel. It is amazing how a country is creating their primary source of energy from sugar cane. And it is cheaper than you could imagine with 0 emissions. They no longer import oil!!! Why aren't we doing the same?

We would be saving our planet, our pockets, no longer being dependant on the Middle East for oil and since the sugar cane crops would be in our country, we would be bringing back the farmer's market and all of our money will be going back to the US and not to a foreign country. Read the article, very interesting.

The big thing with Ethanol production years ago was that it would end up costing more than the price of gas. With gas prices so high today, that has changed.

I would like to see hydrogen cells used as power. Combining hydrogen and oxygen creates energy to power hydrogen cells, which produces only one pollutant- water vapor. .

I see ethanol being more feasible than Hydrogen and chaeper too. There is already ethanol technology out there. Car manufactures make cars that run on ethanol already and is available in the US. I would rather see us pumping money back in the US since the sugar cane would be grown in house. We need a solution and we need it fast.

Either one of the solutions will have big oil companies fighting them off. The guy from the article was already threatened by one of the executives from one of them.

Whether it's hydrogen cells or ethanol or something else, I think we can all agree that something needs to be done. I've always had the feeling that the technology was out there to reduce or eliminate our dependence upon oil, but that there would have to be some tipping point to force the change.

            Re: Ethanol, our future

whats really fucking ironic is all the bitching the democrats are doing about oil and pricing, but they are the ones to overturn the last dozen or bills to create alternative sources in key areas like the wind farms off cape cod (sen kennedy's home) and off the shores of long island (damato and schumer';s homes) because they would be unsightly, and furthermore they are the ones who vetoed the funding for waveform generation off the caost of LA because it isnt proven yet,,,,, it cannot be proven until someone funds the fucking prodject.

ignore all they say they are full of shit and arent helping us. just accept the fact that me and you cant change shit and are stuck with oil derivitives for a long time. when ur president is at 29% and his main competitors are even lower, maybe its time to revamp our government....

the waveform generation project is very interesting. using the power of the tides to generate energy.

werd. and they can do it underwater as not to create problems for ships.

also, there was a research prodject similar to the waveform idea whereas the bigger cities put devices into the sidewalks , streets, etc and use the everyday force of ppl walking on the ground to create an energy source.
