So came back last night...
Sven Vath was amazing...he played a god damn killer set...ended up going to that and came to at like 10 am in some whore house in south Amsterdam...no idea how I ended up there...friday was a bit of a blur got really drunk and visited several parties can't remember a whole lot to be honest hehe...saturday was probably the best day that I recall...started up in the nearest coffee shop and going from party to party...beautiful woman, beer and weed...finished the night by taking some shrooms and listening to an amazing elke kleijn set...sunday...i met a nice girl who worked at one of the coffee shops and ended up talking to her for like 6 hours...was supposed to meet her at some DnB party...but instead went for a steak and walked around red light district bars drinking and smoking...monday took it easy went to a coffee shop and took a taxi to airport....
All in all...I think I will be going back there some time soon

Let me get this straight.
So white-middle class Americans have been told by their Television sets to be fearful of:
1. Mexicans/Latinos from the South bringing drugs and killings n' shit.
2. African Americans cause mos def they are raging a race war and want to occupy America like how the plebs occupied Wall St.
3. Iranians/Afghans/Any one of middle eastern origin to be quite frank, cause you know Islam...
4. North Koreans/Chinese cause you know everything...
I'm on the rag. I never stop bleeding. I need a cork to slow the flow but I can never get it to just stop. For once, please God help me!!!! I'm a mess. My mother's a whore and I don't know what to wear to make myself look pretty!!! Why?!?!?! Oh God!!!! I'm gonna die!!!! Help me somebody!!! Please?!?!? I'm so freaking out!!!! Help me!!! This dress makes my ass look fat. Ooooh God!!!! I'm hurting. Why did you have to give me a baboon's bubble butt??? Why?!?!? I need a snickers.
Ive seen photographers take excellent, AMAZING shots with a Digital Rebel ($about 400 or something) and Ive seen mediocre shots taken by full frame digital cameras, let alone a $1400 30D. Full frame by the way cost more than $10K.
So while your camera will help you, it will NOT help you become a better photographer if thats what youre ultimately after. I havent gone thru the entire thread but my advice is to NOT spend that much cash, get either a Digital Rebel or a 20D, and if you have to spend $1400, then use that to buy a 50mm 1.8 or other sick lenses. Lenses are actually what makes a good shot/composition into a memorable one
30D while its a agreat camera, wouldnt be recommended as the first DSLR you get, unless of you like spending money... ;-)
My $.02. Lemme know what you decide.

well put since the photo is only as good as the photographer. I am some shots with my sd550 that even fool people with simple dressing up a bit. I was looking at the rebel as a 1st DSLR but I am going to take a leap into photography and go with the 30D. However, I am doing it knowing that it will be a learning experience simply that the 1st lens will be a pieve of shit, nontheless still good to practice on. Or get the 20d and save $200 bucks that I could spend on a lens. But you are right, you can have the best equipment and still take bad shots. Its the photographer that takes the good shot.
So Kamal, did you get the camera?

If you really want to spend a fortune on the camera because it's your hobby, go ahead man, we work hard so buy or do what the hell you want . But if you do, please post some 1400$ pictures in here! I wanna see what this camera is capable off!
I remember when I wnated to get my first SLR, I went around most of the camera shops around Los Angeles looking for a used Leica. I was basically told that the camera was too good for me and that I needed to forget about owning one. Needless to say I left every store that told me that. I finally got a camera from the one store that didn't insult me. As far as film cameras are concerned Leica's are the bees knees.

Good adbvice indeed. I might end up going for the 20D after all. Btw is there a lens you recommend. DPReview seemed to LOVE the 17 - 85mm Lens and that is the one I am leaning toward.

I won't be back until next Tuesday, so if Get Carter is the correct answer, I would appreciate of someone else posts a new cap for me

.
Everybody I know with an XT or 20D has bought the 17-85mm IS lens instead of the stock lens (17-55?). It gives you adequate magnification and image stabilization for handheld shots in dark, sweaty clubs.
If you're shooting wildlife or sports and need a lot of magnification, the next step up is the 75-300 IS.
The 30D is apparently the 20D with all the customer complaints fixed. Find out what the differences are, then see if the money difference is worth having a number of small tweaks fixed.
