If I remember correctly, we´ve beaten Germany in the same stadium (it was called Neckarstadion then, I believe) where today´s game is gonna take place, by 1-0 in 1986. Let´s see if history repeats itself.
^^ only real fans refer to useless statistic from 20 years ago. BTW, yes you won 1:0 but it was only a qualification Game.
I guess the result is fair, Germany was more effective with the chances they had, like I always say, football is not figure skating, you don´t win by points or artistic merit. I guess as long as we don´t produce world-class strikers, we´ll never be world champions (and the only decent one we have, Nuno Gomes, is left in the bench... ).
Still, the goal difference is a bit exxagerated, and as for the refereeing..well, I´m sure the germans approved it.
Tomorrow there will be a huge reception, the airport will be closed down, and we will salute our heroes.
Finally, let me say how pathetic it was to see the british media calling out for votes for a player from Ecuador, on the internet election for young player.
It wasn't the media, it was some guy who started an email. And while it's not exactly sporting, you can hardly argue Ronaldo was sporting - the guy is a cheat, plain and simple - what a fantastic player, but he needs to grow up and learn how to win properly.
Surely some mistake? A team who can hardly score a goal? Did anyone see Argentina? Now that was an entertaining team, let down by one stupid substitution. Or Germany? Can't believe it, but they have been great to watch.
I just hope tomorrow we have a great game - this tournament needs it, as it's been fairly poor in terms of entertainment since the knockout stage began.
I think it happened for the 1st time in our history that we are proud of the 3rd place..nobody regrets anything. It was just a great Championship and I hope for a good Final match today. I don't know how long international tv channels broadcasted what happened in the stadium after the Game was over but it was an amazing party and nobody wanted to leave. Today at 12 AM, our heros will arrive to celebrate in Berlin. We had the youngest team in the Cup (5 players in the team under 21 years), the best new talent (most votes for our player Podolski), the best scorer of the Cup will most probably be Miroslaw Klose (Henry needs to make 2 goals today to beat him) so the Future looks bright.
LMAO, this is your 3rd or 4th attempt, right? If you think this bothers me in any way....it doesn't, honestly so keep on posting "Italy" till eternity if you like. In March 2006, our national coach and the team were questioned without end and nobody gave a shit about them and everybody thought they will be kicked out in the qualification round. A few months later after an intense 4 weeks long preparation, we played a tournament making not one bad game...all of the Games were entertaining and more than we could ever expect. We have a team together which can achieve something because they are young and have potential. I am thankful for the last four weeks because the impact on our lifes was bigger than what you can see on the telly. I will watch the Finals today with a bunch of german and 2 italian mates of mine, have a barbeque with them before the Game and just enjoy it while the sun is shining. If Italy does not win, I know that I will meet at least a very happy football maniac from France who works in my departmant tomorrow. The only sad feelings I have is that the Games are over now..for me they could have gone on forever.

I agree with everything you say, except I don?t think it was such a great World Cup....but that?s another debate...
Over here we did see the huge party you had in the stadium, absolutely beautiful, I really don?t think Germany has anything to be ashamed of, it?s really good for world football to see the germans play with such skill along their usual physical type of play.
BTW, I think last night?s game 2nd half was amongst the most memorable moments of the tournament.
Sad news for us and real football fans, though. Figo has announced this will be his last game for the Portuguese national team.
Yes, Obrigado Figo for sure. Did you recognize that people applauded when he entered the Game and nobody booed when he was on the ball? That guy is a legend and that he wasn't on top form in 2006 anymore won't change a thing about it. I also loved it that his last action was to give the pass to the 3:1. Seeing how great players like Figo, Zidane and also Oliver Kahn played their last tournanemt makes me re-considering cloning methods though.

Yup I noticed people applauding, just goes to show that true football fans know how to recognize class and talent. It´s a bit emotional for me, because I´ve seen Figo play since he was 16 at my club (see sig), just a scrawny kid with stupid hair...
And what a great game for Kahn too, especially that save to Deco´s shot.

Well done, ragazzi, even if you didn't actually play shit! Seems like it pays off to be cheats and divers
What a shitty final for a shitty World Cup, though...
As for Zidane, he shouldn't be crucified, a moment of insanity shouldn't wipe out the memory of am amazing player. But he was selfish, and may have hurt his team's chances...I mean, sure, it didn't mean shit to him to get a suspension, it was the final game of his career, but his team needed him then more than ever, and he basically "resigned" from the game. I guess Materazzi didn't exactly ask how was his momma's health
Should be interesting to see who's considered to be the best player of the WC too..let's see if FIFA maintains it's criteria of not awarding Ronaldo the best young player trophy based on "lack of fair-play", because if they don't and elect Zidane...well, hypocrites is the least you can call them.
