    Leftroom News and Popeye promos

    "

First of all thank you to everyone that attended our Leftroom Showcase at 93 feet east during Encompass Festival. Dj sets from Matt Tolfrey, Jay Kilka, Ed Davenport and MarcAshken, plus a live set from Chris Sylvester made it a very entertaining evening.

Our Leftout party at T-Bar saw the return to London of Lee Burridge, and he did not let anyone down. He was also backed up by a brilliant live set from Contexterrior’s Inxec. We had to finish early, and the warm weather caused the club to fill up later, but all in all a good rave indeed. We have now decided that it is better to party after you play, as Matt Tolfrey found out, we’ll leave it there shall we…

Next up on Thursday 8th June, Leftout will feature Craig Richards, Italoboyz and Matt Tolfrey. Craig has a new mix cd out called ‘The Two Headed Monster’ and is a must for your ears, and off the back of this, the man is definitely on form. Italoboyz have made a bit of a stir with their releases on Einmaleins and Treibstoff, and I’m sure their trippy, bleepy sounds will go down a storm on the Funktion One. Once again on warm up duty is our very own Matt Tolfrey.

Also we have a Leftout party coming up at Stealth, Nottingham on Saturday 27th May. The line-up reads, Lee Burridge, Claypoleology and Matt Tolfrey. This is going to be one hell of a crazy party, so if anyone is thinking of finishing the month off properly, come down! For guestlist e-mail matt@leftroom.com .

The end of June brings two new releases from Leftroom HQ. Leftroom 004 will hit the shelves, a four tracker ep by Szenario entitled the ‘Reaction Timing ep.’ Also there is the birth of Leftroom Limited, an ep by Tolfrey & Sylvester’s entitled, Spinach Disko. Samples can be found of both ep’s on www.leftroom.com .

Fresh from his acclaimed release on German imprint Gumption recordings, Londoner Ed Davenport arrives at Leftroom under his Szenario moniker with a wicked 4 track ep for yours and our delight.

Lead track here is an 8 min epic simply called 'Stimulation,' and that’s exactly what it does. The track rolls and skips along effortlessly taking the crowd with it, and the twisted vocal hook and stabs keep the energy flowing. There’s a definite summer flavour here too with the twists and turns within the track never getting too heavy.

Franco Cinelli’s remix of 'Stimulation' on the other hand upturns the track and gives it a darker edge. With a slight change of time signature Franco’s mix keeps the twisted vocal and slowly builds as the track progresses.

Next up we have ‘Spandiforific.’ This is a bubbly affair that bounces along with it’s bleeps and tweaks, and will keep any dancefloor hooked. Think Magda meets Marc Houle on a summer’s day.

Lastly we have the remix of 'Spandiforific' from none other than Ryan Crosson (minus/telegraph). Ryan is fast becoming a rising star of Detroit’s new breed of producers and here he doesn’t disappoint. With his trademark kicks and snares he has made it into surprising track which builds & drops and keeps you guessing.

Also out is Tolfrey & Sylvester presents Popeye – Spinach Disko. This has been doing a lot of damage since the Miami Winter Music Conference and has been a secret weapon in a lot of dj’s bags, including Lee Burridge, Nick Fancuilli, James Zabiela, and has also appeared on Pete Tong’s radio 1 show.

If theres ever a track that creeps up and grabs you on the dancefloor its this one. Tolfrey & Sylvester return from the studio with this slow brewing, techy disco workout with bassline and breakdown to die for. Fatness is the order of play here right for the opening note to the Hunter S Thompson spoken word hook and quality production throughout, this is destined to become a weapon/anthem over the coming months.

Dont forget also the awesome remix from Leftroom’s new signings Audiojack. Theirs is a sample ridden, stripped down, electrofunk workout that twists and turns and is absolutely made for the dancefloor. Look out for these new kids in the future; they're definitely an act to watch out for!

Leftroom have finally moved into the world of Myspace, and you can find them at www.myspace.com/leftroomrecords . Come along and join the growing friends list and listen to some other up and coming music from the label.

On the subject of music, you can now download our mp3’s from www.djdownload.com. They are doing a label feature for us in the next coming weeks, so check it out.
