I'm planning on buying Cubase SX 3.0...I know many of the top producers out there use it and I don't consider $600 to be a hefty price for its potential....does anyone have any idea how easy/difficult it is to use?
what about Cubase SX 3.0?

Re: what about Cubase SX 3.0?
It runs pretty much like other sequencers out there. Figure out how to record audio, MIDI, use softsynths, and you're halfway there.
I haven't gone very far into its included softsynths, though, but I will say that Logic's bundled synths and software effects are very good (considering that they're bundled). I know you need a Mac to run them, but it really is worth the price tag. -
Re: what about Cubase SX 3.0?
I would say logic's included stuff >> cubases' But if you get VSTs, then they are better then either IMO...Comment

I found it very hard to use until I picked up a book on it. I'm still going through the book but the stuff im learning is invaluable. I would start by going out and getting a book on it."They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security." -Benjamin FranklinComment

I love it!! Best program out there. Besides cubase 4 now.
Takes a little time to learn to use it efficiently but once you got it you got it.
Make sure you buy lots of vst programs because it is essential in cubase unless you are using hardware.
I would recomend native instruments for your basic vsts like battery(drums) pro53(synth)
absynth(synth) and fm7 is also a good starter plugin. synth1 is a good starter also.Comment

Re: what about Cubase SX 3.0?
I use both Ableton and SX3. I use SX3 mostly for mastering my track that I did in Ableton. I just find the interface in Ableton easier to use. And bouncing several samples into a multitude of clips is extremely helpful. Many people would sooner die than think; In fact, they do so.

I personally find that the bundled plug-ins in Logic are far better than those in Cubase (although i am yet to use Cubase 4) ... the workflow in Logic seems better too.Comment
