watched it the other day. The way the mystery builds up and bottles down to the simple ideology that the other dude's son is taking psychological revenge for the father/main actor being a twat to his was well depicted, but in itself became the very reason that I felt the plot/ending of the movie was based on too "simplistic" an idea.
For all the mystery they wrapped into it, they could have easily shown a darker / evil past and plot to the movie. But the actors did a bang up job in the movie for sure.

I won't be back until next Tuesday, so if Get Carter is the correct answer, I would appreciate of someone else posts a new cap for me

No mate, It has a deeper meaning than that. The problem is it is only understood by people who know something about France's history.
The movie explores the guilt felt by a French TV personality (and metaphorically, felt by all French of that generation) over having pushed out of his home the orphaned son of an Algerian family that had been working for his parents, who were killed by the French government in 1962 in that Algerian situation. Their son (now a grown man) returns years later to terrorize our hero through the use of videotapes that force him to confront his own shame and guilt.
