Well I'm a big electronica fan and have not posted much on this board for a few years. Anyone else have carpal tunnel like me? Any ways of dealing with it? It does suck when you want to particpate in forums and the like...

Be carefuyl with that shit dude, you can get an operation, but after that the options are limited if not inexistant.
As you know I'm an OHAS (Occupational Hazards And Safety) specialist and I'm about to get into what we call here "beeldschermwerken" (working at a monitor), the term to group all jobs that have to do with working at a computer all day. I don't really know very much about it yet, but since a fellow MS'er is having problems, I'll speed up the research.
One of the things I CAN tell you is that it's wise to take a break from youre PC every hour.
Is it your mouse hand which is causing troubles or the other or both of them?Comment

Ergonomically adapted input equipment can however relieve some of the pain, this is true, but the strain will stay the same...Comment

Re: Carpal tunnel?
To give you a little more insight on the phenomenon...
The carpal tunnel is a small tunnel (bone structure) in your wrist where all nerves to your hand pass. Repetitive movements will cause the nerve strands to swell. If they swell too much, the tunnel will become too small and some strands will be cut off by the pushing of the others. This will cause at first a tingling sensation in your hand. But after a while it will propagate to the rest of your arm up to your shoulder.
Don't underestimate this. Even in an early stage (like I had) it will keep you from getting a good night's rest. Whatever you do, no matter how much you twist and turn in your bed, the tingling will keep you awake.
There is an surgical intervention possible which widens your carpal tunnel, but the possibilities are limited. You can widen the tunnel to a certain extent, but once the frontier is reached... Well, pardon me my French, but you're fucked. It will become a life long condition.
I'll do some research on posture, ergonimically adapted equipment and the likes during the days to come and post them here. However, I can't emphasis enough: TAKE A FUCKING BREAK OF 10 TO 15 MINUTES EVERY HOUR when you're working at a pc all day. Really, in Belgium it's even obligatory in some companies. As a consultant in the field and a former patient I wouldn't recommend anything else. This is the basics.Comment
