Just got done seeing the new Rocky at the midnight premiere and must say it's the best one since Rocky II. Great action sequences, lots of good one liners by the Rock and Pauly and much more I won't reveal until more people have had a chance to watch it.

The midnight showing I attended was sold out and people were clapping throughout. I was skeptical going in, judging from what I had seen from the trailers, but loved every minute of it!

yeah, we went last night. disregard all your feeling on rocky after stallone stopped writing (3,4,5), he wrote the first two and this one as well..... and goddamn it was nothing short of brilliant. its back to the real underdog feelings of rocky just being over matched and a normal shlub.

this movie was done extremely well, and yeah, my theater was clapping at the end.

                        Re: Rocky Balboa (2006)

are you kidding me? granted, i watched this on a dvd screener and not in a cinema so the atmosphere isn't going to be the same but i thought this was just a little bit silly. are we supposed to take stallone seriously? is he genuinely sounding like he does in this film these days? (like he has quite literally just stepped out of the ring after ten rounds with a pro heavy weight?) or is he completely decieving me and it is master class acting? either way i found it annoying and soap opera standard. how old is he in real life? 70? how old is he supposed to be in the film? the computer generated fight was stupid but the main downfall was rocky's opponent 1. not looking in the best of shape and 2. no way he'd be classed as a 'heavy weight'. the fight itself wasn't that bad (lol @ mike tyson) and i'm wondering wether the crowd were genuine boxing fans waiting for a real fight to take place when they filmed this, anyone know? and what was the bit with the ladies son thrown in for? please don't tell me rocky now goes on train him to be a boxer?

                          Re: Rocky Balboa (2006)

Real life 59, Rocky is in his mid 50s and it's also mentioned in the film if you'd paid attention. You're way off with half your comments. As for the way he talks he's not supposed to be playing someone of much intelligence, he's a fuckin' boxer! It'd be quite impressive if you manage to look anything like that shape when you're of a similar age. Granted there are some mistakes like the weight of his opponent as you've pointed out and there are also a few needless scenes / moments. I've never really liked any of his films except for the first Rocky film and this is on par in most departments. The fight at the end is done well enough and most reviews concur...

Finally I was expecting this to be completely shit like most others here who've said the same.

came back from watching this earlier and i thought this was very well done as it feels like coming full circle in terms of the life of rocky ... it links up very well in terms with rocky 1 & 2 with the flash backs .. way to end the series after bombs like 3,4 & 5

I saw this a couple of weeks ago. Everyone in here who says this is a decent movie has lost a whole lot of credibility in my books. One of the most woeful pieces of film ever produced.
