        Great news.

        This was one evil bastard.

I don't think he is that easily replaced.

I'd love to see his face when he arrives in heaven finding out that instead of getting 70 virgins, he actually turns out to be one of the 70 in Muhamed Ali's harem

they may have killed him or may not have...not trying to start a conpiracy theory discussion.....but, heres my take.....You can kill a person, but you cant kill a belief.

Come on man. Who said Einstein ever existed, who said Ronald McDonald ever existed, or DiVinci, or Napeleon. Did you ever see them?? You can take that as far as you want.

That's what I think. The "there is someone waiting to take his place" issue is totally valid, but this guy was it...he WAS Al Qaeda in Iraq. Someone will step up to take his place, no doubt, but you know what....he'll be dead in a couple of years, months maybe. And on and on and on, until they wisen up and realize they are not accomplishing anything. Except dying.

Hey, everyone knows Ronald McDonald is real

Seriously though, it's just a suggestion, if Michael Moore is to be believed then it's quite a reasonable one too. I dunno, just wouldn't surprise me if he was just invented as a scapegoat.

I doubt it. And I doubt Nick Berg does either.

Interesting to see wether he was the main driving force behind the insurgency or not..if so, it was a case of one very strong personality keeping the lot together - in that case there might not be a qualified successor at all. If not, then I wonder what his real authority was over the insurgents, I guess it consisted of many splinter cells operating on their own just using his name as a referral to some central person, like many rogue terrorist groups claim to be tied to Al-Qaeda to gain more legitimacy.

I suppose we'll see what this cat is all about as we go forward, unfortunately. Doesn't sound like anyone knows much about him. Of course, most of us had never heard the name Al-Zarqawi before the Iraq war...

True. I'm sure they'll try to arrange some really nasty "come back" attack in the next few days. Somehow I get the feeling they are never going to be the same though.
