(CNN) -- Dragan Zelenovic, a Bosnian Serb wanted by the U.N. war crimes tribunal for atrocities committed during the Bosnian war last decade was to appear before a Sarajevo court late Friday morning, a spokesman for the prosecutor's office said.
According to the spokesman, Zelenovic's possible transfer to the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in The Hague was to be discussed during the session, starting at 11:30 a.m. (5:30 a.m. EDT)
Zelenovic had been held by Russia authorities, but was in Sarajevo on Friday, the spokesman said. It was not immediately known when he was extradited.
Zelenovic is a former military police officer who has been a fugitive since 1996, when he was indicted by the war crimes tribunal. He is accused of acts of torture and rape during a Bosnian Serb attack on the town of Foca in 1992.
