alzheimers and dementia are terrible. my grandmother got hit with alzheimers HARD when my grandfather died.. it sucked and frankly from dealing with it first hand, it is entirely possible that the 80 year old didnt even realize the situation and truly beleived her mom was sleeping.your life is an occasion, rise to it.

Re: This chick better have a darn good explanation...
Both my grandmother and grandmother from my dad's side got dementia in the last phase of their lives. My grandmother on my mother's side is approaching 90 and the first signs are popping up as well (asking the same question four five times in an hour)...
Alzheimer and dementia imo are nature's way of saying that no matter how many tubes, chemicals and spare pieces we put into a body, there are clear limits to how far we can stretch a person's life.
I dunno about you guys, but if you've seen a generation in your family having their memory and mental capacities gradually wiped away, you start placing question marks with the obsession of people/mediacal science to extend life. I don't have a will yet (dah, I'm 29), but when I scrible my last wishes down, pulling the plug on me when I become demented will be one of the first things on the list. No matter how hard it will be on my family, I want to go in dignity and not linger away into a vegetative state.Comment

Re: This chick better have a darn good explanation...
man thats gotta be the cruelest way to watch a family member go, all your relatives memories slowly wiped away from you as there slowly die, i,ve been lucky enough to not to have seen it so i cant comment on it but being a relative in that situation it must be god dam heartbreaking, they say that supplimenting your diet with omega 3 and 6 can help prevent that in later life but hey they will tell you anything to sell you something, imo omega is highly over rated and that was an opinion of a surgeon well he said it was benifitian but not in the quantity that everyone believes it to be.... one conselation about loosing a family member like this has to be the fact that they probibly dont realise it happening to them ( i dunno ) but i hope i never have to watch anyone die like thisComment
