    Production acid pro 6 thoughts?

i was wondering what the general community thought of it.
i saw a demo and it looks pretty cool as whole but is it difficult to learn?
and is it complete enough to do a full track?
i have some experience with reason and looking for an alternative.

    thanks!

i'd really look into Ableton Live for production needs. Really easy to learn, constant stream of updates that bring you sweet new plug-ins.

I've got Acid 3 and 4 and while they are nice. I'd rather be looking at my live 4 screen than my Acid 4 screen. Seems like Live just has more possibilities.

yeah, i've been looking at albeton live also.
i hear the on the fly editing is pretty cool.
there's just so many apps out there.
i want to learn one and be really good at it before i take on a whole slew of different ones.

      thanks!

there are plenty of good books out there including Ableton Live 5 Power that will teach you one hell of a lot about that program. from there on it's only limited by your imagination and what hardware and software you have...go to www.kvraudio.com to get some seriously awesome plug-ins...like the DaHornet...you'll probably really dig that one.

...sony finally got their shit together with version 6. aside from being incredibly easy to use and learn (every version is that way) they finally added multitrack recording. A really good review is here: http://www.audiovideoproducer.com/ar...e.jsp?id=39232

I've owned every version since 3 and it's an absolute staple in my studio... alot of producers hate the program for various (and often ridiculous reasons) but it's stable as hell and actually a lot of fun to use... the learning curve for "mastering" the software and its capabilities is nothing close to the time I've spent learning Reason, Live etc... Don't get me wrong... I love Ableton and Reason but I'm just a big fan of Acid probably because it's the first thing I ever used and it set the standard for every loop using DAW out today.

Yeah Acid 3 was the first program of the sort I used. But never really got into the real production side of things until live 4. when I found out about all the midi you could do with it and plug-ins out the wazoo. I never thought you could do that with Acid.

i hear ya jeff and no worries..... acid 3 holds a special place in my heart because it's beatmapper was, and still is the best out of all the acid versions (as far as accuracy). the problem with the early versions of acid was the sound engine which blew and if you used the beatmapper function and even slightly adjusted the pitch it would flange wildly. the new version 6 is just sick.. incredible sound engine, stable as fuck (had 30 tracks with everything running yesterday and not a single hang-up) and now with the recording ability it's just made my life a whole lot easier. that and when you use the beatmapper function now and adjust the pitch there's no loss in sound quality. I won't give up live or reason but acid has finally caught up and is now a full fledged DAW imho...
