Just got back from the match... DC United destroyed Celtics FC 4 - 0!

NO MORE EXCUSES
This time there can be no excuses about a makeshift side or lack of match fitness. Tonight in Washington Celtic were humiliated by local team DC United in a 4 goal rout which leaves Gordon Strachan's pre-season preparations in tatters.
The defence was left clueless and rudderless as the American side tore them apart with consummate ease, and it could have been worse - much worse.
I could not even pick out one Celtic player who earned a positive word after this shocking performance. Surely it is now time for the club to cut their losses and ditch Stan Petrov. Without wishing to blame him for this shambles, it cannot be doing dressing-room morale any good whatsoever to have him in the team when he quite simply does not want to be there. His presence must be a negative influence, however unintentional. If someone offers ?4m for Stan, take it and move on.
WHAT NOW?
So where do we go from here? It is all very well saying results in these games don't matter, but three defeats in quick succession without so much as a solitary goal to cheer cannot be overlooked.
Gordon Strachan must now be feeling some pressure and the board must now pull out all the stops to provide the finance to allow him to shore up the defence, as a matter of priority.
It's just as well we do not have a Champions League qualifier to contend with this season, otherwise it might already have been too late. As it is Strachan and Lawwell still have time to remedy the situation. Let's hope they have the will to see it through.
