Yeah he?s not into drugs. I don't listen to him anymore but he has influenced me big times with his Vorsprung Dyk Technik album and many other awesome tracks.

I am not knocking anyone that like sPVD but I think he is a horrible dj now. Never really listened to his early stuff but his stuff from 2000 on sucks. Trance is so horrible now a days I can't understand why people listen to that crap. I might listen to some old oakey sets every once in a while but that is as far as I will go.

I have been into the scene since 1996 and I have never ever seen what the attraction is with PvD. For An Angel is a cheeseball track if I've ever heard one, and it's just an 'anthem' now isn't it? Apart from 'Love Stimulation' and 'Avenue' I haven't been into his stuff as much as everyone else. You never hear of him on any of the forums yet he somehow still gets the gigs, still gets the votes. Very strange

There are way worse trance dj's than PVD. But like I said, I think the "sober" thing plays a role... his pace is on a different level than many dj's, just my opinion, but he's a different kind of trance dj. I'd almost say he's got a sophisticated style... ha

It was fun while it lasted...

His older stuff is rockin, but the least respect I have for dj/producer(s) is Oakenfold & BT. What a freakin disaster.

Damn. I'm gonna have to break out his EPs before his first album came out.

Agreed, but 1999/2000 for me. I go back from time to time and listen to my old Trance Energy and Innercity sets by PVD, Tiesto, and others. Something about the music back then that no one has been able to recreate

When I read the thread's title I thought it was going to be a storm inside. I must say I'm surprised to see how many MS have liked PVD at some point. I use to own Out there and Back and thought it was well produced and nicely conceived. I just don't like the feeling of trance, too happy for me.

I saw him for the first time in 98, and the last time in 04. Im gonna check this years Made in Central Park Party. It has gotten bigger each year, and just being outdoors in the greatest city in the WORLD, and listening to Progressive Trance will be pretty fun.

Too bad it isnt Diggers though!!

I think Dave Haslem said it all in his book Adventures On The Wheels Of Steel (The Rise Of The Superstar Djs) about Paul Van Dyk. Dave did an interview with Paul and went on to one of his gigs afterwards. His records where played in no particular order, he'd play the wrong side if the records accidentally, and didn't really have a clue. Read the book its intresting.
