    Re: Getting a Treadmill

I know this sounds sort of lame, but head down to wal-mart and get one of these mini-trampolines for $20 and pocket 480-580 bucks. You can't beat it for the money and it has absolutely no adverse effects on your joints as jogging does. This may be the most efficient and cheapest excercise device ever invented. I admittedly use mine almost every day for 30-40 minutes. The same as the treadmill you don't have to worry about inclement weather outside and you can watch TV or listen to music while using it. I bought a $500 mountain bike a couple of months before getting one and I use the trampoline about 80% more. It will give you the same level of aerobic workout that the treadmill or bike will. It all depends on how hard you want to use it. Plus it takes up very little space for storage.

Make sure you get one that has long armrails, you can hang more clothes on it that way.

Seriously, ProForm is a decent brand. Just make sure it feels sturdy -- nothing worse than jogging on machine that feels like it could bust at any moment.

Kamal, take your money and buy a nice bike instead! You'll use it so much longer than your treadmill, it will take up less space, and will be so much more fun

Far more important than the choice of treadmill is the choice of music whilst using said treadmill.

But who runs at 5mph? Do you know how slow that is? Its a brisk walk. So yes, bouncing up a down on a tramp is great for those who are total fatbodies or those who have really big breasts and do it topless.

@KAMAL - If you want one that feels sturdy, and actually is study, and actually lasts, be prepared to shell out big bucks for. I would plan on spending at least $800 for it.

Sorry man...just offering a very effective and economical suggestion as an alternative to an expensive piece of excercise equipment. Hopefully someone on a budget will pick one up and benefit from it as I have.

Well I never thought I`d get involved in a thread like this as excersise was not my thing. But being banned from driving and forced to find another means of transport I have to agree with Pickles here. Get yourself on a bike with your iPod and do a few miles every day, try cycling to work... it`s great.
