I won't be back until next Tuesday, so if Get Carter is the correct answer, I would appreciate of someone else posts a new cap for me

          Re: Getting a Treadmill

K- I bought my dad a treadmill from Sears for fathers days a couple years ago. I ended up going with the Nordictrac for a couple hundred more, it just felt more solid (my dad was a big dude at the time) than the others in the same price range. The Nordictrac one also folds up so if you do decide to use it as a coat hanger it will be a small one. Though if I had to do it over again I would head to Costco. I recently saw one there in the same price range which seemed better (don't just rely on their website since many times the store had different stuff).

*edit* this one from costco is pretty nice but its also 1300:

S - Thanks for this boss, but that's nearly double my budget

My uncle has an amazing Nordictrack too and I'm pretty sold on them. I used his for 2 months and it's got an incredible all wood/metal curved base over which the belt slides and allows the base to gently cave in when you jog nearly completely removing the shock from joints. However he paid nearly $2200 for his.

This will be my first one and if I DO maintain a degree of seriousness in walking/jogging on it, I will invest in a better one a few years down the line. Lets see.

              Thanks for the link though

K- the one I bought my dad was 700 something. When you head down to Sears I'm sure you'll see the one I'm referring to. It also had the soft deck and the belt is wider than the Proforms in the same price range.

K-call any gyms w/in a reasonable driving distance to c if they are selling any used ones. for the same price as a new one u will get a much better quality machine. obviously also check to c availability of getting it serviced locally where u live. also check out www.consumerreports.org or u can wait til tomorrow and i'll check my jan 06 paper issue that compared tm's and report back to you.

                      u can also try...

Tkanks for this, I checked around and even though I personally have not heard of Pro Forms, apparently they're popular at the local YMCA. The one I picked up is the one from my first post in this thread.

Will be here on Saturday, keep ya'll posted

@Kamal: since I was a manager of a fitness center I can give you a tip of a good brand AIR MACHINE - Italian. I dont know if you can buy this in your area?? and if you decide to buy one of those I would recomend you buy a pro version (costs a bit more), made for frequent use becouse this things break quite a lot (the electronics inside that is) and machines that are made for home use are just useless - trust me!! And never ever buy anything from Tunturi - quite famous brand but the equipment is shit!

heres a site - but is only in Italian language http://www.airmachine.it/it/fit/prod...php?ID=6&pos=4

Thanks for the heads up, unfortunately I live in a town which is the absolutely ass crack of the state and unfortunately none of the local stores sell that brand. I also dont have a big SUV so I have to resort to sticking with a store that will deliver it.

But thanks for providing that info
