Re: Club Vertigo - San Jose, Costa Rica - anyone been?
Vertigo is the best club in Central America. I'm friends with the owners, and they have done a great job in bringing the best djs in the world. You definitely have to check it out. You won't be disappointed.
Heres an article just in case...

It is physically impossible for you to do a lot of things if life. Like lick your elbow. It's not impossible, when in Costa Rica, to go out and enjoy the night of proper clubbing. Nic Fanciulli, Deep Dish, Oscar G, Sandy Rivera, Chus & Ceballos, Louie Vega, Behrouz, Desyn Masiello and Hernan Cattaneo are just some of the talent that has rolled through the tropical destination, proving there's more to offer here than ecological tourism and fantastic surfing. Yes, amongst the monkeys and tree frogs lie one such place. Club Vertigo, in San Jose, not only attracts enthusiasts like moths to a disco flame, but it has managed to create a scene where virtually none existed a short while ago. "We were well aware this beautiful country was in need of an upscale night club, " says Elisa Cortez (1/2 owner with husband Fredo) about their motivation for opening the club's doors.
I can resist everything except temptation, so when BPM was invited to check out the club, who was I to refrain from such an offer? In over two years the club has thrived, due to open-minded patrons and the fact that competition is almost non-existent. Fredo explains: "There was no such venue, music, vibe nor sound in the entire country - nor has there ever been until Vertigo" Perhaps they walked into the waiting arms of fate by pure chance. Either way, their love for Costa Rica and house music has paid off on multiple levels.
The venue has two very distinct environments; a dark, intimate upstairs lounge (The Lounge), which caters to the deeper side of dance music (no matter the genre), and the sizeable main floor where the "big-room" sound dominates. The scene is young and Fredo makes sure to book a variety of talent in hopes of musical enlightenment. "Good music is good music regardless of the genre...whether it be progressive, trance, tribal, techno or electro it plays no importance on what works better...in the end, it falls on the DJ's."
The night BPM teamed up with Vertigo, Hernan Cattaneo was the star attraction. We arrived around 11 pm to find the club in full swing. The entire venue was transformed into a city scene from Buenos Aires - in honor of Cattaneo's home-town. As Hernan took to the decks the crowd swelled forward and the flashes of about 30 cameras gave the strobes a run for their money. At times it was actually hard to get your head around the fact that we were in Costa Rica. From the center floor to the VIP section, every nook of the club was ripe with energy and a level of sincerity you just can't pick up on in the US. Between the people and the club's aesthetic there were a couple of moments Ibiza actually came to mind. This was a great sendoff to the second leg of our tour - the coastal town of Quepos (Manuel Antonio) where our days were spent eating fresh seafood on the beach and hanging out with the monkeys and iguanas...no to mention dirt cheap rum. Costa Rica isn't only about surf and sand; their club scene is a breath of fresh ocean air. Thanks to the Vertigo crew for dishing it up proper.
