Like many people have said, Sasha doesnīt always get it right, but when he does, heīs in a league of his own.

And Iīll go all out and say it. To me this is what genius is about. You inspire passion, you divide, you sometimes fail to live up to whatīs expected of you, but thatīs only because you have managed to create those expectations, and sure Sasha does throw out a bit of crap sometimes, but every once in while he does something stratospheric and you just have to say "OMFG!".

          Re: Sasha

Based on what he's been doing lately I reckon he's getting back there .. I've caught him live every year since around 1995 - there have been many truly great nights and some duds !

When he hits his peaks no-one can match him ... (well nearly no-one, Diggers 10 hours at Matter was a work of art and the best sustained 10 hours of music I think I'll ever here in a club - plus Beruit and Yellow are amazing on their own right).

Sasha has always had a keen ear for an amazing element of a track, whether its the drums, bass-line, melody, vocal, voice-over or something else (e.g. chimes). Plus he puts things together in a unique was or plays two version of a track and literally bends and twists them together. He seems to have got the melodies and his mojo back after being uninspiring at times over the past few years !

Plus at Sankeys he sustained things all night - recently you may have got 1 or two great hours and another hour or 2 that went no-where. The difference between Sankeys 2009 and say Sankeys 2007 or Warehouse Project 2006 was night and day.

So if he's coming to a town near you make sure you catch him. Plus his UK Tour sets b2b with Digweed in May should take things to another level.

            Re: Sasha

I would argue that what Sasha does has nothing to do with being a genius. Yes he has ear for music and a style of mixing, but many great DJs have it, that's what gives them their signature style and creates a following. But he's hardly pulling the theory of relativity or theory of everything out of those decks. I just want to hear a set from him that is thought out, programmed, and builds up, as opposed to banging it out and maintaining some crazy frenetic high, which to me is no different than any trance DJ except the tunes are slightly less cheesy. Hearing the part 1 of the Malta set was a shocker to be honest, I never expected to hear him build a set again.

I have really been impressed with sasha the past 2 years
I saw him live last year and that was the best I have ever seen him play
my only suggestion is that he should lay off that flangered echo effect, he does that on almost every song in that Malta set
