    Class

Favorite classical cd? I tend to really enjoy stuff from Gustav Mahler. Can anyone recommend any outstanding classical cd's or recorded live symphony's? This stuff is great when your in the mood for it imo...

It was fun while it lasted...

        Re: Class

I sometimes pop in a classical CD when I'm driving home after a stressy day at work. Usually something from Clause Debussy, Chopin, Verdi or Pucini. Sometimes some opera too...

Something I picked up from Crimson Tide (sequence in which the Alabama dives after leaving port) which always gives me goose bumps when I hear it is the Navy Hymn (Eternal Father).

If you're looking for "new classical stuff", check out Die Anarchistische Abend Unterhaltung. DAAU four young Belgian guys with a classical music education who started making music together in a rather unconventional way. Using clarinet, accordion, violin and cello, the foursome produced a dynamic blend of Beatles, eastern-european music, Zappa, even dEUS, folkmusic and classic music.

Not really your regular shot of classical music, but very interesting to listen to. Because of their educational background, they know their instruments inside out and use them to create a unique sound. It's "modern", but with classical influences and structure.

Check out their website, it has a few of their tracks available for download: http://www.daau.com/

        Original thread btw

Check out Bach's "Six Cello Suites", they are pretty sweet (no pun intended)

Killer, I'm down to give all of these a listen...the piano-radiohead cd sounds very interesting.

I def. like Chopin and I'll give DAAU a spin for sure.

My favorite classical song of all time is Erik Satie's "Gymnopedie . That song gives me chills every time. There are like 5-10 different versions of the song, all amazing Download it if you haven't heard it before.
