Re: Ben Watt & Justin Martin dnalounge SF 27-Jul-2006
can say someone please repost on megaupload or something else...this takes wayyy to long!!! ben fucking killed cielo last night, one of the best parties (musically) ive ever been to in my life.
Re: Ben Watt & Justin Martin dnalounge SF 27-Jul-2006
^that was a hell of a party and you got to love that atmosphere on the floor when Ben's spinning. Regardless of the heat, everyone's breaking a serious sweat on the floor with big happy smiles on their faces. What more could you ask for?!
If no one uploads it elsewhere, I'll do it this evening when I get home...if I could stay awake. Believe it or not, after closing last night out, I got into work on time at 9:30

thank you rubs!
i gave the warm-up a listen. the guy starting ramping up the energy playing peak hour stuff right before Watt got on. huge no-no if your on warm-up duties. guy even pulled out a peak time tune from Watts latest comp (Lose Control/Darkmountaingroup) right before Watt got on. even bigger no-no. Ben let the guys last record run out and reset the crowd with a long intro and played fairly light the next hour or so for a little contrast.
wish i would have been there. everything from Loco Dice to Bjork to Tejada. hope to catch him again when he comes through Miami next year. WMC Buzzin Fly party off the chain last year.

ddr, my pleasure and if you ever get the chance to hear him play, chat the boy up. He's one of the funniest djs on the block

I wouldn't go so far as to start slogging on Justin. He's released a number of tracks on Buzzin Fly (and is working on quite a few more with Ben right now), they've played together many many times and truthfully that's how every warmup I've seen for Ben play. I've often heard his openers (who often are from his label) play his tracks as well (especially the ones they've produced or remixed). Ben Watt just wants a party, encourages his warmups to play that way and is never intimidated or upstaged by any of them. Class act and a true artist, imo.
It was just too bad that Justin didn't play his remix of "Peanut Butter Jelly Time" in this set. He dropped it at this year's WMC (right before Ben got on, as a matter of fact) and had the place in hysterics and jumping all over the place.

well you sound like you know more about Ben & Co. then I do. probly one of the biggest compaints as promoter that I hear from featured/main event DJ's is young upstarts stealing the show and leaving the main event DJ nowhere to go but to play harder. can't imagine any DJ wishing that on themselves but...
